Dont think he was one of Benitez's top target's tbh. As usual, lots of nonsense posted about being outspent by spurs blah, blah, blah. Doesnt look like we made a bid so I dont see how we could be outbid!

Re: Modric...

The only way that they can pay that kind of cash is if they are selling an asset already on the books looks like one of the big guns will be leaving the Lane as you cant play them all

Berbatov for anyone i wonder ?

Re: Modric...

I think when you are talking about £15m + young players then they tend to be able to play and regardless of who they are if you shop in that end of the market you buy quality

So i dont think there is a danger of him not being any good as he plainly is but weather he is the player Spurs need to be spending the money on is another question

Ramos at Sevilla had a team of small fast skillfull players a solid player in midfield and a target man up front if he tries that in the Prem then they will get murdered but it looks like he wants his own style of player there so i would see a few being shown the door at Spurs and lots more of this type of signing coming in to replace them

Macia does almost exactly the same job as a sporting director as you well know. He was a sporting director at Valencia FFS!

How can you say he's produced fuck all, we've made some great signings since he's been here.

Why Kenny Dalglish? That's just fucking random! You know he signed Jimmy Carter and David Speedie right?

Also. Modric is only about the same standard as Benayoun or Rosicky, we need pace and power at the moment and I don't think he has either.

exactly well said that man as i said its all bolloxs till whoever we sign pulls on a Red shirt

Rafa is paid his wedge to sign the right players its his nuts in the vice if he gets it wrong

You cant think about buying and selling the type of players

A) we have
and
B) we need

When you cant say who the fuck will sanction the cheque

The only deals that you can say would go through in the current climate are swap deals where the value of the asset going out is similer to that of the one coming in

Now that doesnt mean that we will be like swap shop it just means that if the club including its players are worth X now then it would still have to be worth the same X after any deals so it will be small fry untill the seasons end when if the ownership is sorted out we would be able to spend the money we have available for transfers or if we still have Dumb and Dumber (fuck i hope not ) then they will have to agree to a budget for players this may have already been agreed by all parties to keep Rafa happy

Me neither - more's the pity, in my opinion - but then what do I know? Personally, I'd have loved to have seen Modric sign for the Reds, but he didn't.

Good luck to him at Spurs - I have to say I am surprised at his signing for a non-Champions-League-playing side...

Re: Modric...

Remember that season that Cisse was man of the match in pretty much every game after the last 16 in the Champions League?

No, neither do I.

Re: Modric...

What?

He's been brilliant in pretty much every game since the group stages. Performing in a way Cisse never could and never will. It's a poor comparison and you're wrong. End of.

Was Josemi better than Finnan? How good is Nunez? Was Pelligrino better than Henchoz?

All I am saying is that many of the players we had didn't need to be sold and new ones bought in, he chose to do that.
Here's my humble opinion:

Crouch is better than Baros.

Kuyt is better than Cisse, although not as quick.

Voronin is probably about as good as Pongolle. Although he had a cracker against Bremen!

Kirkland is streets ahead of Itandje, but then so is my grandma, and she died 8 years ago. (RIP)

Finnan is miles clear of Josemi.

Nunez didn't really work out for us, and probably wasn't good enough.

Pellegrino - probably bad news. Not good for us, agreed.

Agree with you except Pongolle is a million miles ahead of Voronin so much so he is likely to go to Valencia or Athletico for 10m euros in the summer

No way in the world is Kuyt better than Cisse but Kuyt fits into Rafa´s style of play more so than Cisse but Cisse is far better IMO
