Re: Birmingham - Liverpool
For all the grief I gave the players during the match, I must at least give them some credit for the way they turned it around. Changing back to the 4-2-3-1 system with Voronin on the left and Benayoun behind Crouch made us much more fluent in attack, and suddenly we started playing.
Pennant was wonderful to watch in the second. Benayoun showed how much better he looks in the centre, and I wish whenever we rest Gerrard that Yossi gets to play that role, as that is his most natural one.
Insua looked good when he came on, but he is very naive in his style, he just bombed forward with no thoughts for the space he left exposed. The ability to choose when to go forward will come with experience.
All in all after an awful first 60 mins, the players picked up and performed well. When we went down 2-0, it seemed the players realised there was pride to play for and it was pleasing to see the way they picked up.

Just a couple of things about Lucas;
Fact - you don't win the Brazilian league player of the year being shite player.
Fact - you dont captain the Brazilian under 21 team being a shite player.
Fact - you dont get to play for Brazil being crap player.
Fact - you dont get the top clubs in Europe after your signature being a crap player.
The lad is 20 years old has moved from Brazil not Holland or Spain to come and live here and to play.
Give the kid a break he has played some great games for us up to now , lets see what he is like next season before all this sell him shit.
Sorry but it pisses me off the way some of our fans are so quick to slag players off here.
Rant over.

I wouldn't go that far with Lucas like, but I do agree that he's not nearly as good as some people make him out to be. He had the opportunity to play as a box-to-box player today yet he didn't grasp it at all. He was too lethargic (that's just his style) and his shooting was truly awful.'
As I keep saying, it's no time to judge him yet because he's not been here for a season yet but I can't see him developing into anything other than a decent squad player.

Re: Birmingham - Liverpool
agree with most on here.
pennant was excellent, benayoun improved as the game went, crouch struggled - but at least he managed to score, voro was fucking shit - verdict is definately out for me, and lucas looked out of place and lost possesion way too much.
i liked the way we came back and (most likely) secured CL next year. roll on wednesday.

Re: Birmingham - Liverpool
Lucas did have a shit game, but that doesn't mean he should be written off, I'm convinced there's a player in there.

Re: Birmingham - Liverpool
Nowt like giving players the benefit of the doubt is there. So he has had a few poor games, dont they all. If we sell him on we will make a profit, cant see the big deal.

Re: Birmingham - Liverpool
I have serious doubts about Lucas, but I've already aired them. He looks light weight, has very little pace and the only thing that I've seen from him that is any good is his passing.

That is a very difficult question as they both offer different attributes.
I personally would sign a new fast attacking player on the right and keep both of them.
Kuyt can be back up striker and Pennant can be back up right winger.

Re: Birmingham - Liverpool
Lucas had a poor game, as did Riise, Finnan, Voronin, Plessis and Crouch
I have no idea how anyone could say that he was 10 times worse than Voronin.
