On this Day : 23rd April 1988

Thinking back I really took each title for granted, you just thought it would go on forever. Lets hope Rafa can bring back days like this.

A solitary strike from Peter Beardsley gave Liverpool a 1-0 win over Tottenham and secured the 17th league title in our history.
The Reds had been head and shoulders above the rest of the first division throughout a season of free-flowing football and deservedly wrapped up the Championship with four matches to spare courtesy of Beardsley's first-half strike.

It was a great occasion for Kenny Dalglish's men to win it in front of the Anfield faithful and a day former Reds striker Paul Walsh will never forget - despite being on the Spurs side that afternoon.

"I remember coming back to Anfield with Tottenham in 1988, the day Liverpool won the league," said Walsh.

"I didn't come out for a warm-up but when we came out onto the pitch I got a fantastic reception from the Kop. They were singing my name and it left me a bit emotional I've got to say and I will never forget that."

....And who would have thought they would get stuck on 18. Back in 1990 - if you put a bet on that Liverpool would take more than 15 years to win it again you would have been laughed at.

P.S - They take 11 years to win the Champions League again!

Are you laughing? See you in 2019!

P.P.S - Now I have had my test post - down to business!
