The stewards last night

Ruined the night for me personally. Within five minutes of the kick off I was threatened with being kicked out for standing, even though I was on the back row of the Upper Anny Road. I wouldn't have minded if there were a couple of kids behind who couldn't see, or even if there was an advertising board, but there wasn't. When I asked why he was acting a tit, I was told they don't mind people jumping up and down but someone fell 10 rows earlier in the season. Standing still presumably because they don't mind people jumping up and down. That's safe. But standing still? Lethal!

I did point out that there were 15,000 people facing me in the Kop standing and nobody telling them to sit down, but I was just called a smart arse. It was a European Cup Semi Final for fucks sake!

Everywhere I looked they were running around like headless chickens telling people to park their arse. Lads who were getting out of their seats to retreive the ball for a player were being chased after to get back in their seat.

Did I just have a knob head steward or did anybody else have the same?

They are a bit more totalitarian when it comes to the CL I find, it's the CL directives that they follow unfortunately.

The bloke in your stand can hardly be held responsible for what happens at the other end of the pitch.

Makes you wonder why the rule was brought in and why it is ever questioned on a Liverpool forum.

Last row main stand anny rd end,"sit down sit down" all fookin game then I realised the reason, they couldnt see the fookin game Twats, when we got the pen this prick said to me and me lad "stop getting so excited" I called them all bluenose cunts and got told I would get lashed out if I swore at them again, the last time I was at that end was the first semi chelsea match they ruined it for me that game, freeloading twats

That was against Arsenal, unbelievable shower of pricks and I feel sorry for anyone going to moscow with official travel as these pricks will be going for nothing and acting the same way.

The stewards are only doing what they are told to do,and WE should be the first to obey the safety rules. The people who continually stand, should be removed from the ground.

i'm a steward, i'm not arsed what you do. its the head stewards who are the problem. the way to get around the 'sit down problem' is if everyone stood up, problem solved

Even in league games in the Kop you are told to sit down by the stewards. Pathetic.

Re: The stewards last night

I always find it amusing that the club demand their 12th man in CL games, yet instruct the stewards to try and wreck the atmosphere. You tend to find that 10 mins into the game everyone ignores them and they give up.

How would standing up in your allocated position (there's enough room in front of your seat and it's more comfortable standing up) cause a situation anything like Hillsborough?

The Hillsbourgh disaster had nothing to do with seating people siting or standing.

For someone who has supported the reds for over fifty years you should know this.

Re: The stewards last night

if i may butt in, i think bringing emotive subjects like hillsborough into it is un called for, the issue here isn't should we go back to decepid grounds with arsewipe policeman hurding us around like cattle, but should people be allowed to stand up when singing, which in europe is generally all the time. i used to be a steward (big time , i know) and we were told that problems with standing are because 'different type of supporters' attend european games, with a slight sneer. i nearly knocked the fella out who said that.

er ,whats my point? no idea.

Re: The stewards last night

Designated standing sections in different parts of the ground. Standing spaces the same size as seat spaces allocated in exactly the same way that seats are, with row and space numbers, so that there's no chance of overcrowding. Padded barriers along each row to ensure that no-one falls forward into the row in front.

It's the way forward. I would love to see the new stadium make some provision for it.

Re: The stewards last night

The Taylor report advocated that all Stadiums should be seated, he said that by having all seater stadiums ,you could safely determine the numbers in each specific section. By standing in seated areas you are breaking all the safety rules that we welcomed, after Hillsborough. ps we should never be afraid to mention Hillsborough
