Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
Was gutted but I am still positive for next week.
It was a horrible ball to defend and yes he should have used his right foot, but what is to say he wouldn't of sliced it in to his net anyway? I felt that we should have just put it out for a corner too as we had dealt really well with set pieces tonight. I was wondering where the injury time came from too but I guess it was for the Fabio injury and Drogba rolling around like he was dying all game. |

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
How much did we pay for him, £5m? For a modern day pro footballer who cannot kick a ball with both feet. Wrong of me/us to kick the lad whilst he is down but I've thought this since the day he arrived.

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
It happens, 99 times out of 100 he would have sliced it into the crowd with his suspect right foot. It was a high pressure situation in a high pressure game and he shanked it. The result was painful to see but we deal with it and plan for the next game.

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
I dont dislike Riise cause of his Mistake tonight, i dislike him cause he is shit, and has been shit for a good number of years now. But lets not crucify the lad over a mistake he has made (and thats what it is a mistake) we all make them. Now is the time to get behind the lads and believe we can get a good result next week.
Also lets pray that Rafa does'nt pick him for next weeks game. |

is a bit sad though that a player with so many qualities of a park footballer couldn't hoof it into the car park

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
Yes, either ref looks up sees the whistle's about due, or our two defenders--rather not name names since i don't remember exactly who was there for it--might've prevented the cross into the box, or riise gives it a go with the right foot...
But. We know we were the better team tonight regardless. Disappointment aside, there are some strong positives to take into next week. What concerns me though is the blatancy with which Chelsea flaunts the laws of the game. Cashley's tackle on Kuyt (fantastic seeing Cole skinned like that, disappointed a rather wreckless and typical challenge was rewarded like that), just about every other move Mongo made he was hacking somebody down, and Drogba's normal antics come to mind, as well I recall a significant handball in the box that really never looked so innocent. For Riise, I'll say there was one strong positive. He let Drogba whine and fall and do his normal dance without getting careless. Just wish he'd had that one last clearance in him. |

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
Every word a true one. Fuck it. This isn't about Riise now, it's about how we do on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge. We are Liverpool. Operation Mongo Cry Baby is about to enter its latter phase.

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
Exactly. His lapse could go down as one of the biggest blunders in a red shirt. He will be praying for a chance to redeem himself and dying for us to get through now more than ever.

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
If it was Carra or Sktel that put the ball in would they be getting this much stick? Now i don't rate JAR that much but he has been a loyal player for us over the years and deserves a bit better than this. What happened to YNWA? The game aint over we can sill win this, let have a bit more optimisi on here and leave all the negative shite to the media tomorrow.

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
why are people saying it was a horrible ball to defend? riise was in front of the attack and the ball was a foot off the ground and what's more it wasn't exactly thundered into the box either.
I can't even get angry at riise I'm too stunned to take it all in. |

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
Remember these:
1. His goal at the pit 2. His wonder goal against the Mancs 3. His volley versus Chelsea in the league cup. The above were all years ago but it proves he has it in him. Come Johnny lad, you owe us now. Big time.

Re: As much as I have slagged JAR off....
Anyone notice how Chelsea got back into the game once Aurelio wnet off/Riise came on? Until that moment we were playing them off the park, come the arrival of Riise and we start to struggle. I don't rate Aurelio that highly to be honest but tonight we looked so much better with him in the side, never expected his loss would cause us to struggle.
