Look, we are all Liverpool fans here. The common denominator in our passion IS the club.

Most of our players did not grow up as Liverpool fans. Yes, now they are here - they have (I hope and trust) developed strong bonds with the fans, and what this club (sans current owners) stands for. However, the nature of their allegience is still different. Its personal, formed during active working relationships.

You can't compare the two. Its certainly natural that players would form a strong bond to a person (the manager), while the fans overriding bond would be with the club and the shirt.

No. We're not employees of the club. Most of us grew up supporting this club but the same can't be said for these players.
There's a real refusal from some people to acknowledge the mess we're in at the moment and that this club is not currently on that pedistool that us as fans place it sometimes.

Its the same thing with the whole DIC thing, and particular fans getting emotional over the "lack of respect" shown to fans and this proud peacock nonsense that "we don't need DIC to save us because we're the almighty Liverpool FC" .

The allegience we give to the club is founded on our passion. Its not demanded of us, we give it of our own accord. We're not paid for it, nor do we expect to be.

The allegience players give to the club IS paid for. No matter what their boyhood fantasies, no relationship stays the same when one party is paying the other (read into that what you will, you dirty perverts!).
