On a Bosman, or for a nominal fee I would say yes. In most other circumstances I would say no, but we have to be pragmatic. We're not going to get the likes of Berbatov, obviously.

Re: Michael Owen...

let's say owen were to come back, who is going to do his fetching and carrying? torres? fuck off!
and that's 4-4-2, with our current 4-2-3-1 formation I don't see where he fits.

Yeah, because he won it single-handedly didn't he; says so in my ladybird book of football so it must be true.

He was a very good player and was paid accordingly. He lied to deliberately run his contract down and cost us money. He did this to hold the power when he left. That's his choice but don't expect me to not think he's a dick for doing it.

He told the press he'd be signing a new contract with us "next week", a few days later he was in Madrid.

Exactly. Funny how he gets his form back, after losing his England place and with the prospect of a big summer move looming. He was a great player for us but the lad is a mercenary and he'd walk to Old Trafford, if Fergie was sniffing round.

He'd be worth having in the squad but then he'd expect at least 100 grand a week, to play every game, without getting taken off and then there's his injury record.

Re: Michael Owen...

I don't have a problem with people who say he was a bit of a snake and that he didn't act in the best manner. Saying he cost us money and indeed owes us money, is just wrong though. He cost nothing, scored loads of goals, contributed to us winning trophies and then was sold.

I don't want him back here, but he's a class goalscorer and a Liverpool legend.

Re: Michael Owen...

He won't stay at Newcastle. And he didn't give the slightest impression after the game that he wants to.

I'm not the bitterest Liverpool fan when it comes to Owen, but he owes Newcastle fans more than that dismissive interview after the game.

Basically, I think he's a selfish cunt. And I'm very grateful that he'll only be remembered as a Fowler-Torres interlude...

Re: Michael Owen...

Can we stop having the old Owen thread whenever he scores a goal. He used to play for us, he doesn't anymore, we haven't suffered as a result, lets leave it at that.

some people have a very short memory....

at the newcastle game, these 4 dickjockeys bounce in late as usual only to quiz everyone around as to 'why are you lot cheering owen? who is micheal owen? pretend he doesn't exist now you cunts!'

when told to get to fuck the began to boo him off the ball.

whilst out watching the newcastle game yesterday there was a gang of soggy fannyfarts saying about how much of a twat owen is and how shite he is. not to mention that he was only good because of the state of defenses around the 1998 period.

well fuck me. the lad was one of the best and heres a gang of divs writing him off as shit and average.

you weren't saying that when he won us the fucking cup!

rant over.
