Rangers set for summer friendly with Benitez's Liverpool

Exclusive

RANGERS could face Champions League hopefuls Liverpool in a sell-out glamour friendly at Ibrox in the summer.

The SPL leaders are in talks with the Premiership giants and are hoping a deal can be struck.

Rangers are also considering an offer from Spanish outfit Atletico Bilbao, who are looking to play pre-season friendlies in Britain.

The Ibrox club have yet to decide whether to take the fixture but it would be another stern summer test for Walter Smith and his players.

Meanwhile, Hampden is in danger of being half empty for tomorrow's Scottish Cup semifinal between Rangers and St Johnstone with a crowd of around 26,000 expected.

Its a funny name for the European Super Cup, 'a pre-season friendly'! And its unfair we are playing them at Ibrox I thought it was played in Monaco!

Shame it's Atletico Bilbao that are wanting to come over - if it had been Athletic Bilbao, I'd have said we should try to get a game against them.

I think that is an excellent move
Its about time Rangers joined in, for to long they have let Celtic take the moral high ground.
Lets hope this in some way helps bring about the change and this from someone who leans towards the Green

Unfortunatly not, as Rangers wont win the UEFA Cup. It would be a travesty of justice to football if a team containing David Weir and Cristian Dailly win silverware in europe.
