I think that too mate, I they will get there first. I am still not convinved Rafa has sussed the league but the signs look good lately.

To be honest, they can get to 19 first as long as our long-term stability is sorted. The longer the circus surrounding the club continues then there'll be no chance of us ever winning the league again.

Will this season make it 18-17 to us (assuming they win the league this season)?

If the above is true then it looks like they might get there first, but there are all sorts of unknowns. How long will Fergie go on for? Will his replacement keep the success going or will they decline? Will Rafa stay? Will the ownership situation be sorted? What about Chelsea - will they fight to get their title back? Will Abramovich spend big again? Will Arsenal be able to go that last step and add a bit of steel?

It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. If we sort our ownership issues and Rafa adds a couple of first teamers to our weak areas, then we have a great chance to be in the mix next season. Too many unknowns though - at all the 'big four'.

I really hope Fergie stays on for the next 10 years. I strongly believe it is only a matter of time before Rafa makes us champions and kick Fergie's arse home and away.

if we continue to be linked with (and buying) central midfielders and defenders rather than genuine attacking options on the right, left and in behind then probably them

sad but true, in time it all comes down to the transfers

Totally agree about it being the least of our worries. However, I'll always care. The fact that we are indisputably the most successful club in this country has always meant a great deal to me and is a big part of the way I see both the club and my own support. We have always been about winning as long as I've been a Red and having the greatest trophy haul is a badge to be worn with pride (even if - in this case - the grip on the record has been growing ever more fragile by the year for a long time).

yeah I know but i was referring to our record with attacking signings over the last 15 years in which Torres has been the only success

we need a right sided player, left sided player etc. until we can settle on some proper reliable attacking options in those positions - which haven't done in so many years -i doubt we will trouble Man Utd

that said generally our transfers have improved GREATLY over the last 12 months and under Rafa, lets hope it continues
