I reckon it's 50/50. I dread the thought of them doing it but if they do it then at least that will be one hell of a big monkey off our back.

They seem to be more bothered by the 5. And they are fucking way of making inroads on that.

Spot on.

I've surprised myself at how little I care about Utd winning the league this year. I'm so pissed off with how my club is been treated with a 116 years of history just forgotten about and a bunch of idiots dragging it through the dirt on an almost daily bases, that anything else has become secondary to this fiasco ending and stability and owners that no one outside of Liverpool fans have heard of been in charge.

Re: Who will reach number 19 first?

Except for the events of May '05, they have been completely dominant over us for the past 15 years. I could give a fuck if they get to 19 first in the context of that domination.

They have a dangerously good squad at the moment Jim, I can't see them under-achieving in the CL for much longer.

But fuck them though, we've got bigger fish to fry than worrying about what they get up to.

I think 26 years is the REAL record we should be worried about.

The thing is, weeksie, we haven't got bigger fish to fry. What's bigger than challenging them for the league?

IMO, they will get to number 19 before us. With this ongoing trouble still not being sorted and dragging on like fuck I can't see us winning the title.

On the other hand to disagree with Rashid, I think Rafa has got more or less what he needs to win the league. A few more quality signings and we'll be up there. Just look at some of the results we've had this season, turn about 4/5 of them silly costly draws into wins and we would have been battling hammer and tongs with the top two.

Can't believe we were 18 - 7 ahead at one point, and now it's nearly 18 - 17! Absolutely abysmal reflection on our failures in the past 18 years. The mancs will easily beat us to 19, it's not even in question. Rafa will probably not be here next season and we will begin another 5 years or so of rebuilding. We're stuck in this loop and don't seem able to come out of it. I blame Parry.

Agree about the 'bigger fish' point. I just dont get it the people who think winning what is after all, a cup competition (CL), is bigger than winning your national championship, especially when you add in we're also the current record holder!

Im not convinced by a long chalk that a couple of quality signings is all that's needed to make a sustained title challenge. yes, they would go a long way to helping but I also think the desire of those players to win, especially when the chips are down so to speak and, tactics away from home will have as big an impact, if not more so, in making that challenge realistic.

I reckon sorting out the long term future is more important than worrying about league title counting Mick. But given a stable off-field situation and a manager who has decent vocal and financial backing then you're right, nothing is more important than challenging them for the league.

But I put worrying about them getting to 19 way down the list of priorities, let alone during our current 'civil war'.

We will get there first after Ferguson has a cardiac arrest when we beat them in Moscow.

1923 - 1947 is our record for not winning the League, 24 years, but that included a World War

I think that would be a disaster if that happened.

Our only hope of the shift of power moving back to us in the next couple of years is if utd dont appoint well as their next manager I would think.

Agreed. I have to say that Quieroz does seem to be a talented bloke and also have a significant role in first team affairs for The Mancs. Certainly, he's the brains behind much of their recent recruitment, in my opinion, as well as the formation changes they've introduced. Whether he'd cut it as Fergie's replacement is another matter, though. I certainly think he'd need a very strong number two. However, I reckon the incumbent will do another ten years as manager. He'll still be there in his 70s, the obsessive old cunt.

Re: Who will reach number 19 first?

i reckon the scum will easily get to 19 before us to be honest but I reckon we'll get to 21 before them ( as someone above said ).

There's also the fact that they will probably NEVER overtake us in the European Cup.
