Re: GG on the radio in Canada

Real red - Good post but Hicks has no cash assets, there is no way he could have done it without putting debt on the club and that's also the reason why he hasn't been able to buy out Gillett.

Re: GG on the radio in Canada

The point Gillett makes about Hicks not getting over the finishing line regards buying him out possibly means that he also no longer has the power of veto as well.

This could well mean that Gillett is now free to sell his shares to DIC but they obviously want Hicks shares as well.

It seems that Gillett is wanting to remain as a minority share holder to DIC if they were to buy out Hicks but that is the stumbling block, Tom Hicks.

Spot on Coops.. I think in return for doing them a favour DIC will retain him as minority shareholder along with Share Liverpool....

He started out by talking about how things were going with the team, and he seemed to talk reasonably knowledgeably, talking about the Mascherano red card and the strict referee.

He mentioned that they received up to 2000 emails a week, with 95% directed at Hicks and 5% at both. The ones about Hicks were to urge not to sell to him. The ones to both were along the lines of 'get out of our club'.

Gillett did mention threatening phone calls and emails, but he also mentioned supportive emails, including an invitation to the pubs to have a drink with the fans, learn the songs etc. He said that he and Foster were coming over for the Arsenal game, and he also confirmed, beyond any shadow of doubt, that the partnership with Hicks was over. He said it had been for some time.

The one intriguing thing was that he said it might be time to think about buying the club, since Hicks 'couldn't get over the finish line' to buy him out. It's hard to know how serious a proposition this is. In all likelihood he is just saying this as a tit-for-tat move back at Hicks.

Gillett spoke very highly of DIC whenever they were mentioned. I think he had a few genuine regrets that the past year has been such a shambles and the owners were not able to deliver what the fans wanted/deserved.
It's proven the most effective strategy in the long- run you know

Eye-eye, Bascombe's about. Has he been using the Rashid hotline again? Is this going to be the NoW's back page on Sunday? "It's A Fair Kop - DIC join forces with Gillett to oust Hicks and Benitez"?

What's the emoticon for throwing up again?

No they didn't. That money was in their loan agreement with RBS - Torres and Babel money was paid with loans on the club.

Does it really matter if Chris Bascombe is reading this thread or not.

I hate the pair of them and want them both out... I just don't hate Gillett as much as I hate Hicks.

This is part of the fucking problem.
Some people are yet to realise exactly what these two cretins have done to our club.

They have not put a fucking cent of their own money into the club.

That was a great interview and he is very clear that he feels that the club hasn't been run well for 12 months. He seems to like the club but is really diappointed with the league showing. Foster and him coming over next week.

I don't like either of them but I find Gillett much more easier to stomach than that Texan Twat.

I was very suprised, he knows everything and exactly how the fans feel.

This is good news and says he will do whatever he can to make the fans happy.

and? the whole point of business is to use as little of your own personal money as possible. I have no problem whatsoever with us as fans paying for player wages and new signings, my only problem is the lies to get hold of the club in the first place and us as fans paying the yanks for the privilege of owning us.

The club should pay for signings. Not the bank. Its not sustainable.

Part of the reason for the takeover was that they would put additionally money in for transfers.
