Depends on the price but most seem to be turning him down because his name isn't Ricardo Julio Del Fantastico II and he doesn't have a youtube clip with six different angled replays of one average goal with obligatory strobe effects and a bad Europop backing.

An improvement on Pennant, in that he actually scores goals.

The pace thing is being overstated. He's no Henry, but he's doesn't seem as much of a slouch as Dirk.
I don't think he's quick.

That's the one thing that makes me think i might not want him.

End up with Bentley if we don't have any money?

He'll cost twice what Tennants cost us.

Too much Bentley hating going on here for my liking.

Do it Rafa: Nice and gently, park the Bentley.

We had Sammy Lee and Jimmy Case playing out there as well. The majority of our games, especially at home, tend to be (or bloody well should be) compressed in the opposition half. Since M Houllier was binned, we play on the counter far less. This pacy player people are asking for would not get a chance to open his legs and show us his class (copyright D.Coleman) that much. I would prefer someone with skill, composure, good ball retention, an eye for a cheeky pass and a good crosser, particularly if Babel comes good. Not everyone needs searing pace - we're not running a relay.

silverlining, inflation dude, we could not buy alves last time as 12 mil was too 'expensive'. Well last yr we got Babel for a price pretty close to what alves would had cost us. Anyway, we should look for better options honestly.

Re: do you want us to sign David Bentley?

Bentley is a decent player but i just don't want us to buy anyone who doesn't have proper pace as well as ability. The one thing that the mancs and arsenal have over us pace throughout the whole team. Bentley is pretty slow and doesn't have any trickery to his game. We need someone that has good pace, trickery, scores goals and will get assists. Without that we won't challenge for the title IMO.

Re: do you want us to sign David Bentley?

If I was to put David Bentley on an operating table and cut him open, what would I find? I would find skill, a good touch, good passing vision, sound technique, a goal threat, excellent crossing ability, a young man with time on his side. A nice boy. These are the things I would find.

Ergo, we shouldn't sign David Bentley.
I am defo beginning to sway towards the 2 to class full back theory. I just don't know who. Although Spurs getting that young Hutton and Bale was damn good business IMO.

There are three I've seen that would be perfect: Alves, Lahm and (mental block - Italian who can play left back and right back - Zambrotta?; actually, what the fuck's happened to him?). Make that two, then. However, that's probably £30m on two full backs, right there.

Zambrotta is available in the summer but I think he will go back to Juve. Lahm is a right footed left back but a superb footballer as is Danny Alves(z!).

If I could choose two full backs for us though I'd go for Valencia's Miguel and Madrid's Drenth... and and use the extra money for a top class winger too who can score goals.... unfortunately there would be no room for Bentley...

I've never seen Drenthe play full back.

He's played wide midfield everytime i've seen him.

alves and lahm are the ones we should be looking at, they would cost a fair penny but would slot straight into the first team and improve us.
