Man Utd away
This game is next on the agenda so fuck it, may as well start the build up now. I keep thinking about it but I still can't envisage us winning there. A point isn't beyond the realms of possiblity but I just can't see us winning. The thought of doing so is just too good to be true.
I can't shake this mental image that i'll be fucking gutted on Sunday night and will want to avoid MOTD 2 at all costs. If we won, i'd get monged on Sunday night because i'm back home for the weekend and not back in work until Tuesday.
I just can't see it though. Those twats are going to ruin my easter weekend back at home.
I think the team picks itself really, although i'm a little unsure what to do with the full backs. If Finnan's fit, then i'd go with him at right back, but it's a toss up at left back between Aurelio, JAR and Arbeloa. JAR (?) I hear you say - he does usually play Ronaldo fairly well to be fair although that tends to be at Anfield. I think the plassy orange cunt ripped him to shreds a few years back if memory serves.
I suppose Rafa might go with Carra at full back, although I sincerely hope not. We need Carra's organisational skills at the back to avoid any more set piece goals being conceded against them.
In short, i'm excited as fuck and can't wait for next weekend, although a little apprehensive about our chances.
Thoughts?

Re: Man Utd away
Think Torres is going to get a lot of attention in this game so I don't know if he'll be the one. Reckon if we win it'll probably be one nil from an unlikely source and that source will be one Martin Skrtel.
(This, I pray, will be followed by him doing a lap of their shithole, in a Masch inspired fit, screaming "Fuck Off! Fuck Off! Fuck Off!" but I'd settle for the goal alone).
Gerrard hasn't scored against them for a while so with them worrying about Torres there's a chance he'll pop up with a screamer.
I'm loving my optimism right at the moment.
2-0: Skrtel and Gerrard.

I'd go with Aurelio at left back, he's playing very well.

He's getting more into form but he's still misplacing passes. Having said that, most of the team were on Saturday. I don't think it's going to be much of a game for fullbacks legging it here and there so I'd probably say Riise should be in as I think he's a bit tighter. That said, if Finnan's fit (anyone know?) then Arbeloa should be on the left.
I think, though Riise's passing is a bit shite and his attacking generally consists of knock it round and leg it, he's our best left back at holding up players till back-up (Mascherano) arrives and defending the far post on crosses from the opposition's left.

Re: Man Utd away
With Aws here. i am strangely confident.
I also happen to share your thoughts Ian about what to do at Full Back. I just cant see Rafa putting Cara out there for this match. He is too important in our central defense to be put out there. I think JAR has to be the man to shut Chrissy down. I understand he offers fuck all on the other end, but I think he'll do just enough.
Reina
Bob Carra Hyypia JAR
Masch Alonso
Kuyt Gerrard Babel
Torres
Gerrard with the winner

Re: Man Utd away
We have a genuine threat for them to be worried about now and that is the form of Torres and Gerrard.
All i am hoping for is Rafa doesnt fuck about with the formation and just say to the lads 'same again, same formation go out and win'.
Mascherano will be fired up for this game (as he is for every game) and with Alonso alongside hiim the midfield should be far stronger then it was at Anfield.
When we played them at Anfield we wasnt in the greatest of form and players such as Babel were not in the form they are at the moment.
Due to Evertons defeat yesterday if we were to win at Old Trafford and then win the derby we would go a long way to almost securing 4th place and been able to look to finish even higher.
The pressure is on us to win but a draw in all fairness wouldnt be the worst result in the world whereas Man United need to win and this should leave gaps at the back for Torres, Babel and Gerrard to exploit.
Kuyt should be important as Evra loves to bomb forward so Kuyt wlll need to help out whoever is playing right back.
I fancy Babel up against whoever players right back for the mancs. Either Brown or O'Shea will play there and Babel as the ability to beat either of them two as long as his confidence is up.

Re: Man Utd away
We can beat United, I feel we can do it this time. On too many occasions have we done well only not to finish.... since the last time we played them Torres and Babel have come on a lot and we are also playing much better. The key is not to have the wide players getting bogged down chasing back Ronaldo and Nani and ending with us having nothing to hurt them on the break.
Riise has always done quite well (God Willing I haven't cursed him) against Ronaldo so he is in for me... and I am thinking Finnan won't be fit. I'd play Pennant on the right as he has pace and can run at Evra as opposed to Kuyt who doesn't offer a counter attacking threat.
We can match them for quality I feel with players like Mascherano, Babel, Torres, Gerrard. Alonso etc but we need to match them for pace too... it will be tough but we can do these - no surprises please Rafa!
My team....
Reina
Arbeloa Skrtel Carragher Riise
Mascherano Alonso
Pennant Gerrard Babel
Torres
