Re: DIC, final offer?
Maybe Hicks is being kept around for the most simple of reasons - he doesn't want to go!

Well there is always that, I like to hold on hope though.

Re: DIC, final offer?
"Crucially the terms of the deal would see 1% of Gillett’s holding in the club go to his American co-owner Tom Hicks for around £500,000, making the Texan the club’s majority shareholder."
Not Horray mate, not Hooray at all...

Re: DIC, final offer?
I'm amazed that it seems Gillett has agreed to sell 1% of the club to anyone. Hicks must have had a serious word in his ear.
I'm equally amazed at DIC seemingly accepting 49%, I can only assume, as others have, that certain guarantees will be put in place about future ownership and/or minority shareholder rights.
Regarding Hick's debt side of things.
Is it realistic to suggest that DIC will take on that debt and to allow repayments to be put back into the club, either straight away or in future if/when they secure full control?

Re: DIC, final offer?
Think it is good news regardless of that 49-51%
We do not know the details of the arrangement on board level.
Should this go through i might add.
This is the beginning of the end game i reckon.

Re: DIC, final offer?
It's not what we all wanted but it's better than what we had before and better than the nightmare scenario of Hicks buying the club outright. DIC will have a foot in the door now and they will be pushing very hard to get rid of the other fat Yank.
With the American economy going into recession Tom Hicks will be feeling the pinch more than ever.

Possibly, it means it's not over though and there's undoubtedly far more shit to come over the next year.
The prospect of having that thing in full control is also not a pleasant one.

Re: DIC, final offer?
How certain is this? I'm talking about the Gillet-DIC-deal in general (not the numbers)? Can I tell my ol' dad that a deal has been done?

If it's in the post and echo then it's probably a done deal.

If George Gillett accepts DIC's offer, a pre-emption process would begin giving Tom Hicks 90 days to match their offer should he wish to.

If it's in The Echo then I'd agree but The Post is useless, it just seems to copy the same day's nationals.

The pre-emption rights are to be purchased from Hicks by DIC, so that shouldn't be a problem.
