Hello,

Well it seems as if Tom Hicks has finally now admitted George Gillett is in advanced negotiations with Dubai International Capital.

Word was on Tuesday - there would be a big announcement made regarding Gillett’s shares within 10 days.

Well yesterday Tom Hicks confirmed that negotiations have been on-going with his 'partner' & DIC officials.

The relationship between the American pair has completely & utterly broken down.

Some press are saying that Dubai International Capital are ready to bid for Gillett's shares, but my understanding is, talks have been ongoing for months & the OFFER WAS MADE weeks ago.

I also understand that Gillett has agreed to sell his shares to DIC, which in turn prompted this response from Hicks.

Tom Hicks:

"Not only am I not going to sell, my partner cannot sell without my approval. “

"So I kind of have the ability to determine the outcome of what is going to happen, and I am right in the middle of that."

"For a lot of reasons I can't discuss, I haven't been able to fix it yet. But I am preparing to be in a position to fix it."

Now I understand that last sentence to mean he is desperately trying to find a backer who is willing to stump up the required money that would enable Hicks to buy Gillett's shares.

But this will not happen.

Like I said sometime ago - Gillett has given his word to Dubai International Capital, headed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is now personally involved with negotiations, they can buy his shares & everything is in place.

Gillett will not sell his half to Hicks.

Gillett is said to be furious that Hicks has ruined his what seems like a genuine wish to do good things at Liverpool.

Before Foster Gillett left Liverpool, he let it be known to some within Anfield that none of what was happening was down to his father or his family.

Further more George Gillett has spoken with Rafael Benitez, Mr. Moore's & Rick Parry several times in the last 2 months to let them know exactly where things stand with all that going on at the moment.

From what I hear - George Gillett is quite a decent guy who has been railroaded into making decisions he didn’t want to take, but such is his intense disliking of Tom Hicks & the fact things are now beyond repair, Gillett see’s getting out of Liverpool whilst making a tidy profit a good plan & who could blame the guy?

Sounds pretty much what Bascombe was saying Sunday before last in his long piece on the crisis.

That it was basically three onto one and Hicks was the Just a fly in the ointment, the monkey in the wrench, the pain in the ass.

I don't believe all this Gillett is a nice guy stuff.

How exactly did he envisage paying for the club when he has no liquid capital? He knew exactly what he was doing, he's just pissed off that Hicks, the blundering idiot, let the cat out of the bag and spoiled his PR dream.

It's hard to know which way is up with either of them to be fair, it's like a scene from Labyrinth or something.

On one hand he's never once opened his mouth about us, unlike Hicks, but on the other even Doug Ellis said he thought he was a shadester.

I just don't know what fucking time it is, all I know is I want them gone forever.

Brief but to the point.
As said before he didn't have enough cash so brought someone in who was more or less in the same boat.
They hatched a plot to buy the club on the tick.
Hicks goes off the reservation and lets loose about the refinancing and everybody catches on. The credit crunch screws up their chances they then have to pay a deposit neither wanted to do. Now the chief instigator wants out as he knows to go further is gonna kill his wallet. He's been declared bankrupt once before. A few bad seasons, a recession and a large portion of his fortune locked in a building site and I can see why he's heading for the hills.

As for Hicks he can see the potential but doesn't want to pay for it.
He's hoping to ride the storm and then the possible crest of a wave when the big bucks flood in. Then sell. No other yank billionaire wants to sink the cash he needs to buy GG out (sorry to point it out but £100M is $200M roughly) so the only choice he will have would be to sell some other assets to raise the cash. He will face the same problem, no one is buying, not at what he will be selling it for. Would he sell one of the other teams he has, can't see it as again, who will buy a team that has won fuck all. By not backing his franchises properly with decent signings and other support he has fucked himself in the long term as now nobody (hopefully) wants them.
