He was also probably referring to the Houllier days when we weren't £350m in debt!!
I hope with the big increase from the New Prem deal, we don't have to take that Euro money into account. All this talk from the lads and lasses about buying new players, will we be able to afford them with our gigantic interest payments?!

Most Probably not.

We have quite a few threads going at the moment, but I reckon we will only be buying with what we can sell, 2-3 classier players in, for the average players we can hopefully move on. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, that DIC do buy us out, and can invest in 2-3 top notch players, ala Alves, Nasri et al.
I would think you would budget based on the last 5 years you would look at your income and then take it from there
with any new money that has come in like the sky money etc you would have to also look at the new amount of debt and be able to account for that
so the TV money will not be available for singings due to that
but with many players available for sale Guthrie Hammil Anderson Carson Kewell Pennant Riise Vorrinin Crouch Kuyt ETC ETC plus the 15m-20m we normally have i think 40m wouldnt be to far off the mark
Or put another way same as last season when Torres Bable etc where added not all players will be sold but lets say 10-15m plus one of our strikers would get you an A list player to go and replace the one sold and improve the team
I think that is how we will go we have some good young players who might save millions when they are given a go at stepping up in the last month of the season
The diffrence between the Leeds thing is that they borrowed all the money for player signings based on getting to the CL every season and used future ticket sales to secure it i think

We are doing exactly the same. Money was borrowed to buy Torres and Babel last year.
Around £60m was borrowed as "working capital" and Mascherano was bought using a percentage of that.
Does it make more money in spin offs, though? The Champions League has a greater captive audience and, as such, you'd expect sponsorship spin offs and the attraction of new supporters to be more appealing. When seen in this light, it's difficult to separate the two in terms of importance. Nearly every player the world over wants to win the CL.

The league's bottom club might win more than the CL winners, but not if the CL winners are from England.
The CL winners don't always get the most money out of all the CL entrants either. Payments are made on various factors including performance in the group stages and so on. Also which country they are from will make a difference, as part of the way it works is to reward each country's teams based on the pot their country's TV companies have added.
From what I can remember, and this was before the last round of TV rights deals, there's about a million quid increase per position from bottom to top in the Premier League for prize money. If that's right, there's a 20m difference from bottom to top.
So a top four team on a good CL run could bring in an extra 40m in prize money alone. That's before gates are included, plus the spin-offs and so on.

In our language there's a similarity, words that are spelt differently but mean the same thing. We speak the language that everybody understands. Instead of me saying somebody was avaricious, I'd say he was bloody greedy."
You still don't get it. Look I want DIC in too. Use this arguement
All the extra money we were meant to get because of the new EPL/TV agreement is being used to pay for the club by G&H!!
Everyone is getting the extra money for the TV deal therefore comapratively it means nothing. Except we are using or extra money to pay the bank instead of adding to the quality of our squad.
But... but I was under the impression that as we bought Torres, the Americans have spent loads and are bankrolling more money than anyone*
*This is what my mates who don't support Liverpool regularly tell me, apparently we should be winning the league because we have only not outspent Chelsea and the Americans are actually doing good because they are spending more than anyone.
They also believe Torres is regularly rotated though and he cost 26m. Whenever I tell them the facts, I am a whinging scouser who makes stuff up.
one thing I want to know is this 45M 'working capital' secured with the new refinace loan, is that for this years transfer or was it to cover last years transfers i.e. torres and babel.
Rashid, how many times does this need explaining? The league is worth a lot but the difference between winning it and coming 3rd or 4th is negligable compared to the money that Rafa has been bringing in through qualifying for the very late stages of the Champions league.
He's bringing in up to £20m a season, a whole lot of which we haven't had in the past through barely getting out of the group stages. Jumping a place in the league gets you an extra million or something, you get that for one win in the Champions league.

I'm starting to take genuine comfort in knowing there's nothing I can do about it.
