Re: DIC: takeover thread

The clown speaks - it's over I think.

Parry wants quick end to Reds saga

Rick Parry believes Liverpool's ownership saga is coming "to a head" and must now be resolved by the American co-owners as quickly as possible.

George Gillett revealed in an interview this week that his relationship with Tom Hicks had long since broken down, and Parry admits that he sees no way in which they can carry on as a partnership.

With Dubai International Capital reportedly keen to launch a full takeover of the Anfield club, Hicks has so far refused to do business unless he can retain a controlling share, while Gillett appears more amenable - claiming DIC would be "responsible" owners.

But whatever happens, Parry has called for matters to move quickly.

"I think it brings it to a head - clearly for the good of the club from where I sit," the Reds' chief executive told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme.

"The hope will be that it's resolved quickly now, it's dragged on for long enough and the ideal would be to move to as speedy a resolution as possible."

Parry added: "All things are possible at the moment - somebody's got to sell, that's clear. If they're not able to co-exist then there needs to be a solution where one buys and one sells, or both sell.

"There aren't too many other possibilities but it's pretty clear that to carry on with the status quo is going to be extremely difficult."

Re: DIC: takeover thread

I do think we are hopefully coming to the end of the whole saga.

Parry is a gobshite and normally kisses the arse of the owners so he must know that they are on their way out.

One thing is for sure though, if DIC do take over i dont think they will enjoy a 'honeymoon period'.

I think the fans will be sceptical of anything DIC will promise and will only believe in actions, hopefully something DIC specialize in.

I'm not sure how anyone can be sure about anything with the number of variables involved in this issue in the hands of so many fucking unpredictable, duplicitous and self-serving twats.

We dont have any idea where the negotiating is at, at the moment, for all we know this could drag on and on for several months yet.

Your bang on the money there Paul and i wont believe anything until there is a press conference at Anfield announcing the new owners.

Hicks, Gillett and Parry look after only one thing and that is themselves.

We dont know how it would work out under the ownership of DIC and any statements i or anyone else make about how they wouldnt see us as a profit making business is purely speculation on our parts.

I do believe though we are now finally getting to end of it all and the Gillett interview has for given Hicks a kick up the arse and hopefully made him get it in gear.

Gillett has now publically let everyone know that Hicks can not afford to buy the club. He has let everyone know that the time limit to do so has also passed.

What Gillett as also done is let everyone know that he has given Hicks a fair chance to buy his shares at fair price and Hicks has not been able to buy them so if this did end up going to court then Gillett can say he did everything right Hicks couldnt afford them so now Gillett can sell to whoever he wants.

I very much doubt anything will happen in the next couple of weeks and it probably wont happen until the end of the season but i do believe that when pre-season starts we will have new owners.

I don't think the power of veto has passed because if it had gillette would simply sell his shares

I think this is the reason why Gillett made the statement that he had offered the shares to Hicks.

If Gillett takes Hicks to court then he can point out to the judge he did everything right and that the potential new owners would have been good for the club etc.

I think that is closer to the truth than any set time period.
I think its time for gillette to say put up or move out the way.

Re: DIC: takeover thread

Gilett is no fool. He knew exactly what he was saying in that interview and he has now called Hicks out.

We all knew Hicks was all talk but at the moment he is the stumbling block but Gillett has let it known he has been offered the shares and couldnt afford them so if Hicks still has the power of veto then Gillett im sure will proceed with court action.

I dont know the legal wrangles of all this and hopefully someone with knowledge of this subject could help us out a bit by letting us know how it works but surely Hicks can not continue to veto every deal Gillett approaches him.

They has to be some terms in the contract whereas the 'veto' becomes void under certain cirumstances.

Re: DIC: takeover thread

Hicks not "getting past the finishing line" is clear - he has failed the deadline... Gillett can either buy Hicks out now or negotiate with someone else. I guess Gillett will try and buy Hicks now - that way the club doesn't get involved in a messy power struggle between Hicks and DIC.

Re: DIC: takeover thread

Hicks will sell as soon as DIC come up with a price he is willing to accept. The only urgency for the club is for it to be done by June so that the transfer budget is known.

Re: DIC: takeover thread

The only way Gillett can buy Hicks out is if DIC are putting up the money.

Gary Richardson on 5live seems to think that Gillett has more or less sold his share to DIC and that he is coming over for the Arsenal game to purely finalise the deal.

Re: DIC: takeover thread

I can see it getting very very messy now. We all know Gillett wants to sell but if its true that Hicks couldn't get past the finishing line, why hasn't Gillett sold his share to DIC already?

I can only imagine the agreement between Gillett and Hicks must be really complicated - mostly in favour of Hicks. And I can't see Gillett buying out Hicks that easily. Don't think he is rich enough to do that.

Hicks' reply to Gillett's comment was also interesting - he was hiding behind the "big games". How many times has Hicks commented before a "big game" ? Looks like Hicks is running out of options but still I can't see him losing his grip over us easily.

I can see this ending up in court and getting very very messy before a solution is finally found. I just hope DIC remain interested.
