Re: DIC takeover a done deal?

Houllier once said ''They can have the ball, we'll have the result'' or words to that effect.

Rafa always goes on about controlling games and keeping possession.

They are completely different.

Harsh and unfair to be honest and you won't ever see good in me but I will have a try to unravel some of your nonsensical accusations.

Of course I know the difference between a full back and a wing back, what I meant in that discussion is that a wing back doesn't necessarily have to play in a back 5 but can also play in a 4-4-2 given the roles that players in these positions have for teams such as Arsenal.

Football is not about attacking, defending or "controlling" but about results - that much most of us would agree on. However it is also nice to see one's team trying to play it on the floor, passing it, being composed and stretching teams. If you can't see that Rafa overplays on the cautious side especially against teams much worse than us then I don't know what to say to you.

Rafa's whole philosophy is built on not losing, which is fabulous in the CL which you can draw every game in and still win it, but where there is 3 points for a win you come unstuck playing the percentages.

I also don't think it is silly to suggest that we are a defensive side with a cautious manager who has built his reputation on grinding out results, and I don't think it is fair to force people to accept it. Just like it is not fair for me to force you to want great players like Ricardo Quaresma over great human beings like Dirk Kuyt.

I think though you may well be a little confused yourself - if you are saying you would prefer "better human beings" to more talented "wankers" then why can't someone want a better brand of football over pragmatic succes?

Is winning the most important thing or not? Make up your mind.

Chelsea won back to back titles playing the "dinosaur football" you hate so much. Round and round we go. Round a bit more. Then again.

Which is fine when you have several £25M players in there to ensure you win most of your "percentage" games 1-0.

Yay the exception to the rule! Must have "several" £25m plus players! George Graham's Arsenal don't count!

George Graham's Arsenal had very good youth players he got for free at a time when teams spent what they generated and there was no foreign pressure. No English club was expected to do anything in Europe either as we were either shit or not allowed in Europe.

Re: DIC takeover a done deal?

So, to sum this thread up:

1) DIC would still like to buy the club - no change there;
2) Negotiations are still ongoing but not concluded - no change there;
3) A majority of forumites still say Rashid talks shit - no change there;

Not achieved much, have we.
