Re: DIC, final offer?
Wll Dic say no effect on deal.....
ESPNsoccernet - England - Gillett's Reds sale still on despite 'leaked' letters The proposed sale of George Gillett's stake in Liverpool will not be derailed by co-owner Tom Hicks' fury over the alleged leaking of private letters over the deal. It is still expected Hicks' representatives will meet Dubai International Capital executives in the middle-east state early next week to thrash out what will become a virtual joint ownership of the Anfield club. Texan millionaire Hicks has reacted angrily to the publication of a letter - on Liverpool-headed note paper - which outlines the details of a potential buy-out of Gillett's stake in the club, with 1% being bought by Hicks to give him a 51% majority control of the club. While Liverpool are in Milan next week attempting to reach the Champions League quarter-finals, the club's future ownership will be decided in Dubai. But Hicks has been angered by leaked details of negotiations, and has blasted DIC's chief negotiator Amanda Staveley for an alleged involvement in the leak. But tonight a source close to the DIC negotiations said: ``This letter has not been leaked by DIC or any of our negotiating team to the media. ``We do not expect any problems with the meetings next week, and we expect the deal to buy George Gillett's stake to go through.'' Hicks is clearly upset that there are suggestions that although he will buy 1% of Gillett's stake, that is the beginning of a process which will see DIC eventually buy-out the Texan owner of Dallas Stars basketball side and the Texas Rangers' baseball franchise. Sources accept that DIC do want to take full 100% control eventually, but in the short-term they are happy to accept Hicks' demands that he remains the majority share-holder. Hicks claims that DIC are only one several possible investors, with the possibility of further American involvement. But Gillett wants to sell and will accept a deal next week which sees him getting an £80million profit on his stake, while selling 1% to Hicks for £500,000. The Hicks' family staged a show of strength at Anfield today when a large party of Americans - including members of Hicks' family - took centre stage seats in the directors' box for the 3-0 Barclays Premier League win over Newcastle. |

Re: DIC, final offer?
This might not be strictly in line with whats getting discussed on this thread but I just had a couple of thoughts related to this whole affair and wondered what people thought?
If Moores really is as greedy and uncaring as some people make out (and this is where as an OTT I am a little lost as my perception of him was based on the offal website and official publications and I never really came across much among supporters suggesting he didn't have the best intenetions of the club at heart until this all blew up,clearly there was alraedy a greater mix of feelings about him on Merseyside).. Surely he would have been aware of the fact that the club was worth so much more than he sold it for? It must be impossible for a businessman who would have all the various experts looking at the situation, to undervalue an asset by so much?!! unless he wasnt really all that focused on screwing money out of the deal?? ok so the new value in based on the fact we will have a bigger stadium but Moores knew that when he was selling,in fact with no real advances made in building it the Yanks are (hopefuly) selling the same asset for almost double. I mean look at how much can be squeezed out of DIC compared to the amount Moores accepted? Or am I missing something?? Secondly I know that supporters will be judging DIC with much more caution in terms of their promises, ethics and the main thing for all of us at the moment is getting the Yanks out.. but in terms of efficency and business sense you would imagine that Rick Pary himself was behind their whole bid. I mean is the potential 100m H&G walk away with what could have been spent on transfers last summer? Because if the are going to treat us a business (which everyone seems to agree they are) it will be a while before the earn that 100 mill back if they plan on running the club the way we want them too. So should we not still shitting that were going to be worse off than when Moores was in charge? |

Alright, I've been away for a week. Is the deal still imminent, or is it off?
