I agree with all of that. I suspect his game (while he's at Liverpool anyway) is more suited to the role he's had recently.

[quote=Thants;1027415][quote=stringvest;1027352]Wrong. Thants, your opinion matters not one jot to me - you come across as knowing very little about anything at all. Tedium personified.

Re: TOMKINS - Rafa's new Assistant
Someone mentoned that Baraja was a "holding" midfelder at Valencia - was he now? Ha Ha. As for Kuyt not being a wide anything, I don't give a rat's arse where he started out, I am going by what I see out there on the pitch. He has done "OK" by his own standards for a few games but still not good enough. It will be interesting to see where he fits in this coming August.

And so what? He was absolute shite at the world cup too... do you prefer experience over quality Dave? What do you SEE in Kuyt that makes you think he is a wide player? Pace? Skill? Talent? He is everything that is wrong about our attacking play these past few years.

Albelda was deffo the holding player in the classic sense, ie didn't do anything much in the way of attacking. Baraja had more license to get forward and was often described as "box to box".

Sorry, but that's rubbish, he's a much better player that that.

Rashid in "Kuyt responsible for all Liverpool FC's problems", shocker..
News just in. Kuyt also responsible for 9/11, the Iraq war, North Korea, The Middle East, Everton being in the top 4, Princess Di being killed (Al Fayed said so, it was at the end of his long rant), Harry having to come home from Afghanistan.

Re: TOMKINS - Rafa's new Assistant
Kuyt has been doing ok but his best still isn't really good enough. He's average in too many areas to be at a top club.

Re: TOMKINS - Rafa's new Assistant
For 10 million there are better strikers/wingers out there.

Exactly
The formation gets the best out of what Rafa considers to be his best players

Re: TOMKINS - Rafa's new Assistant
Let's look at it another way, if people said in August 2004 that after 4 years we will still be playing a slow striker out wide we would all be a bit shocked. Kuyt on the right is not what we need nor is it the way forward. Kuyt is Rafa's Heskey.
