Carragher started his in midfield. And he was shit there as well. Proves nowt. I prefer Kuyt on the right, as his contributions are less critical to the team's success out there, and it gives him time and space to work in.

It was a 4-2-3-1 at Valencia. You cna argue all day but he played the system he's been playing for the last few weeks with Vicente and Rufete in the positions Kuyt and Babel have been playing.
You, half the Spanish league, French league, a number of International teams, a few Italian teams and Benitez are all wrong.

Accept it.

There's a difference between first touch and trying to do too much with the ball before you have it.

Not comparing him to anyone. His first touch, generally, is fine.

Re: TOMKINS - Rafa's new Assistant

I think this is a brilliant article and it highlights what I've been seeing the last few weeks as well as most of us.

Kuyt would be a perfect 'off-the-bench' or utilise while resting the first teamer player.

With this position we have TWO purchases that simply must be made. A pacey, technical striker who can link/get wide/get into the box and a two-footed attacking fullback(Rafinha!).

I really like the formation and I like it even more and am more positive after reading that article.

It proves that Rash is speaking shit when he says Kuyt isn't a wide anything. It's easy to be dismissive without being aware of the facts. The debate about his ability is seperate, he has considerable experience playing out there. He isn't the long term solution but to dismiss him on the basis of some misguided, myopic agenda driven campaign just smacks of outright stupidity.

Wasn't Ray Kennedy a striker for arsenal, then when he came here we put him wide left and he had the best periiod of his career?

Re: TOMKINS - Rafa's new Assistant

if rafa wants to bring in a new striker (he may not) then simply he is going to have to get rid of one (possible 2 strikers if he IS going for 4-5-1)

so one from voronin/kuyt/crouch

I can't see all three being here next season
