Martin Taylor
Personally I feel Martin Taylor is being treated very unfairly because of this incident. Yes it was a terrible tackle and there’s no denying that, but the question is, did he intend to injure Eduardo? In my opinion he definitely didn’t. It was a very clumsy tackle and was late. But nearly every week in the premiership we see tackles like this flying in and rarely if ever do we see a result like what we saw on Saturday. Martin Taylor is not a dirty or malicious player, he never has been. Eduardo was just too quick for him. Apparently Martin Taylor’s received death threats because of this tackle and had Wenger calling for him to be banned for life, this is an utter disgrace in my opinion.
It was a terrible tackle, but sometimes these things happen in football, I really don’t believe he deserves all the abuse he’s getting.

Re: Martin Taylor
Wenger rescinded his words about Taylor later on that evening.

And several internet warriors have now retracted their death threats.

Re: Martin Taylor
He deserves stick, especially when these idiots have come out in his defence saying the tackle wasn't that bad or not even deserving of a yellow. It was a dirty tackle and any self-respecting ref would have sent him off for that challenge. He's crippled Eduardo ffs, yet all these morons are saying there was nothing wrong with the tackle. Dickheads.

I know that, but he never should have said it in the first place in my opinion, it wasn't his place and was a total over reaction. Plenty of his players have been involved in contentious incidents down through the years and he always seems to miss these...it's not professional on his part.

From what I've read nearly everybody condemned the tackle, but some people don't think Taylor meant to cause Eduardo serious harm and I would agree with them.

Yea he deserved to be sent off, but tackles like these are made every week in the premiership, which don't cause injury, and players often don't get sent off, sometimes they get yellow cards, sometimes they totally get away with it.
I'm not saying he shouldn't have been sent off, I'm just saying he's getting too much stick over it. He isn't a malicious player, so I don't think there was intent to injure the player.

Hang on, Taylor is allower to break someones leg in 2 and be forgiven, but the manager can't say something extreme in the heat of the moment?
Bollocks.

The only person who knows would be Taylor himself but I'd definitely give him the benefit of the doubt.

If it was in the heat of the moment I'd say fair enough, but Wenger's interview was after the game, he'd plenty of time to compose himself and to think about what to say. He knew he'd be asked the question, so he obviously had his answer ready. Taylor was punished for his tackle, will wenger be punished for his comments, I don't think so.

Before that tackle, he'd played about 300 games with 1 sending off and 6 bookings.
If it was someone like Lucas Neill then he'd get no benefit of the doubt from me, but he's clearly not a dirty player and is just a big clumsy dope.

Re: Martin Taylor
I think what people are trying to say is that the challenge ended up being a bad one, but he didnt intend to do that, because Eduardo's touch just before the challenge, completely did Taylor. The challenge had already started, he just couldnt do a thing about it once in full flow. And that's not adding how quickly this all happened, it's split second stuff.
We've all seen the pictures, both moving and still, since the event, and it's fair to say that the still makes it look horrendous, the moving make it look pretty ordinary.
For me, ithe severity was just an unfortunate accident, 8/10 times nothing happens either in punishment or injury.

It's completely understandable though, isn't it? Wenger was bound to be pissed off. His expensive striker has been snapped in two, his team concedes a shitty last minute equalizer with the Mancs breathing down his neck and then someone from Sky shoves a mic in front of him. What do you expect?

I know what your saying, but still how long has Wenger been a manager in the Premiership? He knows as well as anybody that some Sky twat's gonna stick a mic in his face...if he didn't want that to happen don't do the interview. My point is he knew exactly what he was going to say when he stood in front of the camera, personally I don't think what he said was professional or fair to taylor. If he wanted to say something, be positive, thank the Birmingham medical staff.
