Re: Some pictures from the meeting yesterday

How about getting behind the team as a short term aim, rather than chanting about H & G, I mean the team is kindof why we go the games after all!

Honestly I dont think this will work, but I really would love to be proven wrong, good luck lads!!

Well with some fans saying "Well won't work, good luck with it.", well it doesn't help. Would it kill you to join the Union or stay behind after the game for 10 minutes to protest?

That's good to hear. It's sad to see some of our fans touting the club to DIC at the moment and believing they'll come in and turf out H & G and start spending like Abramovich (it won't happen, it's not how they work).
Idiots holding up 'Save us DIC' banners on the Kop for example should have us all cringing.

I admire what you're doing in theory, whether or not the aims of the group are permanent or whether they are a mechanism to rid the club of the Americans remains to be seen.

Ive stayed after the game each time theres been a protest, couldnt go the meeting as I was in work til 1, I guess im in some sort of Limbo as to where the club is going.

But my main goal is to support the players on the pitch, not whats going on off it.

Sorry if I appear pissed off at fans who think I want to pay £35 to go and sing about H&G, rather than get behind my team

What are you talking about? Get your facts straight. It was generally agreed upon to protest afterwards and perhaps before the game.

Re: Some pictures from the meeting yesterday

From what was said at the meeting its clear that the group is going to carry on after DIC takeover. Even if not much happens for a while in terms of getting supporter representation at board level. Theres still going to be cheaper away travel that gets sorted and other aims that are achievable!

Whats with the negativity and apathy? Get involved!

By the time the stadium's been built I bet we're in a lot more debt than £540m - if we're still under this ownership.

They've only borrowed money to get them through the next 18 months tops, and the stadium won't be built until 2011 at the earliest, so that's another 18 months they need to find money for.

The stadium will almost certainly cost more than the figures they've put out before, unless they can get a fixed-price deal for it. And I can't see any builder agreeing to a fixed-price deal unless they know there's a chance of getting close to that price. (Unless they've got Wembley on their CV).

If United's debt is going down (I don't know if it is) as they pay some of it off each year, maybe we'll be in more debt than them before too long, especially if the stadium's delayed any further.

My point is that theres hardly any chanting at the games full stop. It seems the crowd is only up for it in the Champions League big games (like tomorrow).

All I want is for us to concentrate on the team until the end of the season abd get behind them in times like this, even when we get results like Saturday.

Because 1000 fans boycotting the club shop aint gonna work when you have vast amounts of merchandisers worldwide selling the same club shirts etc. H&G dont care about the fans, so chanting aint gonna do fuck all, we can all think it will but it wont, all they care about is making a profit on the club, which where someone like DIC could come in, or any other consortium/billionaire etc, to takeover the club.

I am made up that so many local fans are coming forward in protests etc, it shows that there are still many fans who truly care about the club. But at the end of the day S O S aint gonna get H & G out the club, thats the only thing I diasgree with them, the rest of their aims I fully 110% support.

And there has been chanting, even at the Havant game there was, not as much at the Sunderland match. We all have different ideas about how we want the club to get out of this crisis and I know that, but the team is the most important thing, and I think people are forgetting that

I'm certain it was mentioned by at least one speaker that ownership from another investor is still unsavoury and DIC were mentioned. The ultimate aim of the union is clear - whether that can be achieved only time will tell, but if we are to achieve it we need to get the support of every Liverpool Supporter.

The union will be run on a simple one man one vote philosophy. The aims are all there for people to see at Sons Of Shankly - Liverpool Supporters Union (that URL may well change soon to reflect the new "Spirit of Shankly" name), so if people think "I would like to get to those aims", join and have your say. The more people involved, the stronger we will be. We can only win this battle with mass support right across our fanbase.

Some folks have got off their arse and are trying to do something positive about the future of our club. This has got to be better than sitting around moaning surely? My tenner's in the post.

Nobody's forgot about the team being the most important thing, thats why all the protesting has been moved to after matches. The Havent game was the only time since the initial protest were it has happend during the game and that was before S.O.S was even set up.

There are bigger plans for the club store (pickets, educating OOTs etc), if you've got any better idea's you should get along to a meeting and suggest them.

The more people that get behind this and the longer it goes on, the bigger the impact it will have!

Oh right so the main aim on the SoS website being get H&G out of our club is a bid typing error is it? If you read my comment on the other thread you would see what I said that I couldnt go the meeting as I was in work til 1, and I agree with most of the aims with SoS hence why I have applied for a membership. And I agree that more people need to get behind it, but the atmosphere has been dead the last couple of months, and it seems the fun part of going the match has been lost, and I go to support and sing for my team when they are playing, something which not many people seem to be doing.

Teams used to fear coming to Anfield more than anywhere else, but that hostile atmosphere for away teams has dissapeared, thats what I want back

Yeah, I seen that, I was talking about in the future. The part about everyone getting behind it werent necessarily aimed at you personally, just a general comment. I didn't say it wasn't about getting the Yanks out, thats obviously a major aim that HAS to happen, sooner rather than later.

Everyone wants the atmosphere back, there's only the back of the Kop that sings, everyone else just sits there then moans after the game that no ones singing!

The performances on the pitch are playing a far bigger part in the matter than a few hundred fans meeting up to talk about the future of our club before the game, IMO.

You know you may be right, but how will we know if we can get them out or not if we don't try?

Just think about this logically. In business, a fal
