I havent seen many reserve matches. What does everyone think about becoming a first team regular?

Firstly stop shouting.

Secondly, it will be tough because of the quality we have at central midfield currently.

He's got the ability and the heart but unfortunately for him he's not foreign and I don't think Rafa trusts English kids.

He's a more developed player than Leto thats for sure.

Talk a about ridiculous statements.

It's more like: Unfortunately, we have four better players in his position, at his level of development.

Leto plays left wing... so I guess that's a good comparison.

Weird comment seeing as he's signed some and given the likes of Guthrie games, Mellor got games, Welsh played in a league game, Potter (though Irish) was given games.

Yet every time he does do it he gets ripped apart for it anyway "Not taking it seriously" "It's a trophy, we should play our strongest team" etc, now with the more owner and fan pressure then he's obviously less likely to do it.

Looked ace against Bolton reserves and some of his tackling was thunderous and his passing claever.

I'd like to think he would as I really like the style of play I've seen the few times I've been fortunate to watch him.

It's tough to get in our midfield though. I would hope he gets a chance in the premiership maybe on loan first and follow Guthries steps

Re: WILL JAY SPEARING MAKE THE GRADE AT LIVERPOOL

Rafa would rather spend 6m on some midfielder from the Spanish leagues or Brazillian leagues who may or may not make the grade, rather than a scouser from the youth academy who may or may not make the grade.

Might not be that tough to get into our midfield if we don't end up signing Mascherano. (Or if Xabi leaves).

Eh? The only player with us now who fits that description is Lucas (who already looks class), and if you seriously think that someone like Potter or Welsh would have made it at the club under any manager, I'll have some of what you're on.

Oh yeah, and remind me – how many scousers from the Academy broke into the first team under Roy Evans?

Re: WILL JAY SPEARING MAKE THE GRADE AT LIVERPOOL

I am no expert but i would say his chances here are remote. He certainly looks a good player in the reserves and he has a good tackle and pass, however, i just cant see him breaking into our midfield. I also think his chances will be hindered by his lack of height, cant believe he was used as a defender. His heart can only take him so far, unless he bulks up considerable, something which alot of our young players need to do, he will struggle.

Hes a similar build to Mascherano and i think he could model his game on Masch. Personally i think he'll make it here, his attitude is very reminiscent of Carragher and i think through sheer hard work and desire he'll become a top player. His attitude is first class and he has good quality on the ball. Id like to see him out on loan maybe next season but personally id have no worries with him being 4th /5th choice central midfield.

With 7 subs in the PL next season hes someone that could get his chance.

Re: WILL JAY SPEARING MAKE THE GRADE AT LIVERPOOL

If he keeps up his rate of improvement he'll make it here alright. He's been fantastic this season, his attitude is spot on. There's talk of him going to Leeds on loan for the rest of the season, it'd be a great move IMO.

(There are rumours of El Zhar and Nemeth going there too)

Interesting. Good to have Gary Mac about to give our kids a bit of experience and not knock the shit out of 'em.
