We'll play it cagey and lose 1-0.

What are you saying, Coop? That we shouldn't have bought Torres and bought two strikers for £10M instead?

No, i wouldnt swap Torres for any other striker in the world but i was meaning regards Rafa not been willing to take a risk by spending all his budget on one player.

I will be absolutely stunned if Torres plays against Chelsea.

I know you wouldn't swap Torres for anyone, but you can't have your cake and eat it.

It doesn't make sense Coop. You're saying that you wouldn't swap Torres for anyone but in the same light saying that we shouldn't put all of our eggs in one basket.

I know what you're trying to say but it doesn't make much sense.

I know exactly what you mean mate and yes it does.

In all fairness this season we have witnessed both sides of the argument.

1. The advantage of paying top dollar for players such as Torres, just one player has made a huge difference to our team.

2. The disadvantage of not spreading the cash about due to the star player getting injured and therefore the team suffering.

For what its worth this season i would question not the signings of Lucas and Babel because i think players like those two are important not just for now but for the coming seasons, its the fact that we didnt sell Sissoko, Crouch or Kuyt and therefore generating enough cash to do another Torres kind of signing.

you build slowly though, this is why the impatience drives me nuts. give me a long term vision with Torres type signings and accepting we'll be a bit average in the mean time any day, just as long as there is a vision and a policy that ensures the players we spend big on WILL be here in years to come we'll be ok in the long term

Re: Torres okay for Chelsea

i'm going to write a book called 'A Lateral Approach to Multi-year Transfer Strategy, Philosophy and Economics'. Rashid can do the peer review where he'll praise it and then in the conclusion change his mind and trash it to pieces for not addressing style management

Re: Torres okay for Chelsea

Liverpool have confirmed that Fernando Torres has suffered a hamstring tear in his right leg sustained playing for Spain in their international friendly win over France.
The Reds number nine lasted just 23 minutes of the 1-0 victory over Les Bleus before he was forced to leave the field.

Liverpool FC spokesman Ian Cotton said: "Fernando was examined by medical staff when he returned to Melwood.

"A scan later confirmed their diagnosis that he suffered a hamstring tear in his right leg. Fernando is expected to be out for approximately 10 days."
