The Guardian

Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun had a narrow escape yesterday when the southern Israeli town of Dimona was the target of a suicide attack. The 27-year-old was visiting his parents there when the bombers struck and he heard the explosions and gunfire which killed one Israeli woman and the two Palestinian bombers.
Benayoun's parents live about five minutes' walk from the site of the attack and the midfielder, who is in Israel for a friendly against Romania tomorrow, immediately made calls to confirm that none of his relatives and friends were hurt and was flooded with calls from people concerned about his wellbeing.

How was it a close call. He was in the same counry and his parents live 5 mins walk away. Whats that half a mile?

If the paper are reporting he was close enough to here the explosion and gunshots, then to me that seems like a close call.

His father was 20 yards away when the bomb went off, watching bodies flying throught the air.

The second suicide bomber didnt managed to get his bomb to go off, he was closer to Benayoun's father.

One dead, 49 injuried.
