Dissapointing report though as others have said, the last few months have been like a total nightmare for reds fans. Ownership, Managership, players kicking off, no cash, now this? Feels like it's coming from all angles at the moment.

the membership here is minute compared to the circulation of the paper. if he retracts it in the paper for all to see then i'd agree with the "balls" comment.
otherwise he told a small selection of "hardcore" supporters that he was misrepresented and its been changed online. the same group of people whom he asked the question of how it would be received if he jumped from the echo to a national paper that some would deem questionable.
i've nothing against this fella as i don't know him nor do i think he's lying but i'd rather we have the whole story before we start praising him.

Re: online news of world match report changed
The texan is good mates with dubya, murdoch is now a yank citizen, no doubts also a republican contributor, it's not beyond reason that Hicks has been in touch with murdoch requesting that his paper tries to skew coverage against Rafa, I can see no other reason for anyone to try to suggest the protest was in anyway aimed at Rafa

Fair fucks to Chrisb for clearing it up, I've never been a big fan of your stuff, but always liked your honesty.
You've certainly gone up in my estimations by putting it right.

What about the rest of the report which suggests that Carra and Gerrard are not behind the manager?
Not the best of times for anyone to look like they're joining the owners in pissing on the club from outside the tent.

Couldnt've been a better time for the owners to get new guns on board though.

Re: online news of world match report changed
Even with the amendments, I still think the match report is unnecessarily snide and unhelpful.
We're all aware the football is pretty dire at the moment, but what's happening on the pitch is hardly the major problem with the club at the moment, is it?

It wasn't in the paper. Read his initial post. The line only appeared in the website report, not the printed one.

Agree, it is an utterly unnecessary piece. If Rafa has lost the players, it is something to be dealt with in the summer, by which time we will hopefully be under new ownership. Writing this now not only undermines the club at a time when we still face a battle for fourth in the league as well as still being in the FA Cup and Champions League, it aligns both Bascombe and the senior players against Rafa, and therefore by association (certainly among NOTW's target audience) with the owners.

What do you want me to say? The guy was under the impression that NOTW's 12 million readers or whatever had been misinformed about the protest. I was letting him know that they hadn't.
If you want to know what I thought of the report, well I didn't think it was particularly helpful at this time when we need a bit of stability, but I don't think it's factually inaccurate either. To be honest I'm just sick and tired of everything right now, the club is completely fucked up.

amen, the shit's coming from all angles at the moment. Best to just get some soft drugs and alcohol on the go for the next few months IMO.

Re: online news of world match report changed
Maybe it depends on if you got the early edition, but the report in my paper did say the protest was about Rafa. I thought it was a bit strange when I read it.
