Radio5 Live

Ive lost alot of faith in five live and the BBC this week, it all started last week about a bid being prepared, the sportsweek news desk on Sunday saying positive things and Alan Green and Lawro all saying they have heard from 5 live sources its very much on. Now today and yesterday they have spoken as if it wasn`t there story which started it all. Firstly the re financing was only a prelude to any deal now the according to Bose the re financing means it could be 12 months before any deal is could take place. As for Bascombe I think he owes us all a apology.

Re: Radio5 Live

Why does Bascombe owe us an apology? Bascombe said in his most recent article that any bid from DIC mightn't happen immediately but it will probably happen in the medium term.

Re: Radio5 Live

Too many people believed the DIC hype. Too many seem to think DIC wouldget the club on the cheap. As for the story DIC were liquidating some of their assets to make a bid, are the people who said and believed this serious? Mega rich DIC having to liquidate funds?

Yeah, right, they are really strapped for cash.

The refinance was always going to happen, unless DIC had put up what G & H were asking for. Which before the refinancing would have made no sense for DIC, since if G & H somehow failed to refinance they could have got the club "on the cheap".

But they didnt so now the real business can start, less mind games and all that since the financing is in place.

Exactly right. I don't know why people are convincing themselves that this refinancing means DIC are out of the picture, it doesn't mean any such thing. G&H had to do this, or they only had two other options:

1) Pay off the loans themselves (never going to happen in a month of sundays)

2) Sell to DIC, who apparently were only willing to give them enough to pay off the loan, with no profit on top.

Neither option appealed to them, but had they not been able to refinance they'd have had to go for option 2. So they refinanced, but all it does is strengthen their bargaining position as the time issue isn't a factor anymore.

Cheers Dave, this gives us some hope.

Do you think, in your personal opinion of course, that G&H have released the 'new' stadium design with any intention of starting or finishing it?

I personally have a feeling it's been released purely as a token gesture, to keep things 'ticking over' if you like.

Re: Radio5 Live

The silence from Gillett in todays statements was deafening, maybe DIC are going to buy his share? I know thats not an ideal solution and one that isnt perfect for DIC but how about this as a possibility..

With Parry and Moores seemingly blocking moves to put all the debt onto the club if DIC bought Gillett out they could have significantly more influence than is usual if they have 2 "allies" on the board, with that majority could they push through a lot of things without needing Hicks vote? almost forcing him to sell?

Just a thought.

Re: Radio5 Live

Why does CB owe anyone an apology he is a reporter and he reported what information he had.
The fact that at this point in time it seems unlikely anytime soon to be right doesn't mean at the time he wrote it it wasnt correct information
If he had know this info and said nothing and later in the year it came off out of the blue and he confirmed he knew this in Jan everyone would have been on his case saying he didnt let them know?

Fuck me the man can't win Im not waving a banner for CB i dont know the guy from Adam but i believe two things. 1) he is a fellow Red and 2) wouldnt print a story he didnt believe had substance in fact

I believe his storys are like my NAP's some win some lose but over time more win than lose

CB if you view this thread some Red fans can have a ballanced view and dont want to shoot the messenger

Thats All

Re: Radio5 Live

This finance deal runs for 18 months according to some reports, and if Parry really does have two years in the job from the date of the takeover then it's safe to say that we'll be going through all of this again about a year from now. Except we might not get to hear quite as much as we did this time. By then the owners will be unopposed in putting the debt onto the club, as long as the banks are willing.

DIC will know the full details of the new finance deal, they'll have contacts in RBS, and they'll have got a good look at the books last year when they nearly got 15%.

The owners aren't getting on, I don't care how much they deny it, and that plays into DIC's hands. Somewhere in there is a price that DIC will buy at and a price each that Gillett and Hicks will sell at. I bet they aren't too far apart.

Back page of the Echo after defeat by man u. Photo gillett in directors box sat with the chuckle brothers.

Hicks sat in the main stand.
Seemed very odd to me.
