I am almost certain that the money mentioned there went on dividends. When Gillett bought The Canadiens he took out a loan that was of higher value than the club's worth and awarded himself a hefty dividend from it. I read this on Forbes months ago, I was frequently trying to ask people how and why they thought both Gillett and Hicks would change their investment patterns just because we were Liverpool.

Gillett used the Bell Centre to secure the loan. The Bell Centre cost $190 million to build and opened in 1996. The huge, unprecedented dividend guarantees Gillett a large return on the $181 million he paid for 80% of the team and 100% of the arena in 2001.

A vote not to boycott is a vote for Gillett and Hicks' greed.

I don't think so, you're just extending their current pay deal and I can't see many having such huge pay rises.

Pepe Alonso Gerrard Torres. All new contracts. Good few mill in there.
Who knows at the end of the financial year we may declare a profit.
Not defending them but at this stage there is not enough information available to make these judgements.

But he does mention in the article, he's balanced out that couple of mill by not mentioning other various little bits of incoming the club gets.

Re: How Reds owners mislead fans over transfer funding
This is like fighting "the company" in Prison Break.
A consortium of fans should make a decent bid on the club. If they dont accept, we could boycott until they do, having "strike" guards outside the stadium etc. But until there's a concrete alternative I dont see how we can "win" this.
As you see quite clearly , all the money for transfers comes from the running of the club, and if we hurt the clubs profits Rafa will have no cash next summer. Then it's bye bye Premier league, welcome Coca-cola

Re: How Reds owners mislead fans over transfer funding
Wages was explained away with
"Obviously the club have other costs, such as wages and maintenance of the ground. But they’ve other sources of income which will dwarf those costs."
|
It'd be interesting to know what income we have that dwarfs the 65-70 million wage bill, especially considering our three main sources of income are match day sales, CL prize money and TV/PL money. Infact the two amounts he uses don't even cover the wage bill (66 million on the 06 AR, which you assume with renogtiations has gone up.).

I’ll bet you some Liverpool dockers have heard their employers saying similar words before.
We need to throw the yanks out, no matter the cost. Relegation? So be it. We’ll just have to build from square one once they’re out.
(I'll make a new avatar. LFC has lost a battle, not the war)
