Re: Prem Strikers
Good work Bobhorse, i thought Keane had more but its his partner and i also thought Ronaldo would be up there.
We shouldn't resign Anelka its that Diouf lad we should be after, did he come up through the Bolton ranks? and if so we should offer around 10million for him.

Torres has made most of his own goals himself.

Re: Prem Strikers
Bob -
If it was all as simple as you make out, we'd all be laughing all the way to Silver land, armed with Silvo and plenty of cloth.
Stats, like the ones you draw up there of Bolton, are completely irrelevent. They have changed the way they play, they arent as dependent on the flick on/second ball as they were, and they ARE far more dependent on Anelka and what he can do. Yes he is a very good striker, but I still believe there are strikers in the league who are on a higher level than him.
We were the same when we had Owen in the latter years. Everything was geared towards him scoring. It makes the man look good, but the team wont ever get too far that way, as we found out.
One player I will speak out for is Ronaldo. He's improved and he's improving still and his goal tally for a midfielder - if he carries on at the same rate - is going to be special. And fair play to him (The cheating cunt ) for it. Development is a big thing in a player. I'd certainly like him in my side.
Bias aside, on current form, there doesnt seem to be anyone who can do what Torres can do in the box. It's honestly frightening, and the whole league can see it too. That one, I am most certainly happy about.

Im afraid it is that simple mate and that is why money talks.
If you buy the best proven quality players, you will win things, ask any Chelsea fan.
Same with Man United, Same with us.
Torres is our record buy and it shows Cisse before him and he banged in 18 or 19 goals even though he wasnt flavour of the month.
Quality costs money if you have enough of either you win things as i say football is a simple game
we won everything bar the league with Owen who cost us nothing if the money had been spent better then we would have had the league also before now
Ronaldo is the best player in the world for me at this moment in time just ahead of Gerrard with Messi and kaka behind them
I say that because of the influance on the game the player has Ronaldo just beats Gerrard on Goals
Messi IMHO is a brilliant player looks good but isnt as effective as Gerrard or Ronaldo for the team most of his runs thou brilliant have no end product
Kaka as i have said before is a brilliant player but has brilliant players around him doing the work
On a like for like swap both Gerrard and Ronaldo would have a greater impact on AC than Kaka does and likewise Kaka would have a little less impact on Liverpool and United
As i say it is my own view and to be fair i havnt met anyone yet who agrees with it, such is Football

Re: Prem Strikers
Ronaldo disappears vs the big opponents. Gerrard can rise above for big occasions, Bob.
Kaka is consistantly fantastic and Messi is overhyped but already World Class at his age.

Kaka is the best player in the world. Some numpty presenter on SSN was questioning how Kaka can be chosen as world footballer of the year ahead of Ronaldo the other day. Kaka delivers on the big stage and played a huge role in Milan lifting the European cup last season. Ronaldo goes missing in the big games.
