Sheffield Wednesday
Last Saturday I went to Hillsborough watch SWFC V Watford - yeah I know !! - but my daughter lives in Sheffield and we (me and my 2 sons) went to pick her up and bring her home for Xmas and thought we'd take in a game at the same time.
Rubbish game at which we were sat in amongst the Wednesday fans but we ourselves were totally neutral. WFC scored after 5 minutes and SWFC were not good enough to equalise sums it up - the most 'entertaining' part was listening to the SWFC fan sat next to my son who was possibly the most biased 'fan' I have ever heard with his comments on the Watford team, the ref, Ady Bothroyd, the ball boys and anything else which annoyed him - they were all the reason why Wednesday lost and not the fact that they were rubbish - you know the type - hopefully when I watch LFC I am just a little less biased than the SWFC muppets near me. I mean even the pensioner lady sat next to me told Marlon King she hoped he breaks his leg!! And people wonder why normal people regard footy fans as neanderthals.
Anyway that lot was not my main point - this was the first time I have been to that stadium since 1989 and I went to the Leppings Lane end after the game to see if there was any kind of reference to the tragedy but could not see anything. Is there anything there? I seem to recall reading some time ago that there was some kind of token memorial but SWFC had been rather slow in erecting something. Has someone any facts to fill me in so I can check it out if I go again?
