You worded it in a bit of a controversial way, mind.

I was worried in the first half as it was one of those games where Gerrard (and the team) can get a bit lost. He's trying so hard to bomb on and score, then they were quite sneaky on the counter and our defence looked vulnerable so legging it back the other way. One of those games where he needs to sit a bit and pick his moments to go forward just a little bit better. Still had quality in the forward positions when we needed it though.

Well... This was Gerrards 16 start in less than two months... so him lacking energy is no bloody wonder. He needs a rest, maybe a place on the bench against Bolton at the weekend?

Re: Man of the match...Porto - Home - CL

I agree. He was trying to find the killer pass from 10 yards inside our own half. Not doubting his effort or desire but his intelligence or trust in his teamates is low. He did the job though especially the penalty.

Agreed. He was wobbly, to say the least. In fact all four defenders were below par, to be honest. However, I'll take below par and a 4-1 victory any day of the week.

I think Hyypia's performance affected Carragher to be honest. Porto really pressed our defence when we had the ball at the back, I don't think I've ever seen a game with so many back passes in it. It was a surprising tactic really, they targetted (arguably) our strongest area and it worked to a degree because as you say all 4 defenders didn't play as well as they can.

They still couldn't beat us though!

Hope not.
Bolton are in good form, following a draw in Munich and belting the Scum.
Now they have returned to kicking the shite out of anything that moves we need Steve more than most on Saturday.

1 Torres
2 Kewell
3 Sammi
