Euro 2008 (for the gamblers amongst us)
Something myself and a bunch of mates did for the world cup that made it much more exciting....
We now know all the teams involved so select your winner and start backing them for a certain amount each week. Whether it be £1, £5 keep placing the bets once a week until the tournament begins and you end up with a big bet on that hasn't hit you in the pocket.
As I say did it for the world cup (selected spain) starting at around this time and by the time it started had a potential payout of 4k had Spain won it. Two mates picked up 2.5k on Italy.
This time around Im going for Italy myself but the prices for the main contenders are below taken from Betfair!!!
Germany 6.2
Italy 6.8
France 8.8
Spain 9.2
Holland 11
Portugal 12.5
Croatia 16.5
Czechs 17
Greece 28

Re: Euro 2008 (for the gamblers amongst us)
It's fucking impossible to judge, really.
All of the teams are similar and I really don't think there's any team that stands out.
Picking a winner is very difficult. With the teams being really closely matched, it should make for some good games.
I don't think there's many stand-out players either, like in the past where top players would dominate tournaments. I think that's becoming a thing of the past as it's more about how team's compliment each other nowadays.
Obviously it's always been about the team, but we've seen tournaments dominated by the likes of Pele, Maradona, Zidane etc - I just think these days those players are less apparent as it becomes more tactical and fitness oriented etc.
In summary I have no idea who'll win it! I'll probably get behind Spain for obvious reasons and also the Czechs.

I'm gonna bet on Spain so they can let me down again.

Did well on Italy for the world cup. I fancy Germany this time but the odds look a bit short for anything but a lay-off. Croatia might be a good bet. Might give this scheme a go anyway whoever I choose. Better odds than the lottery ...

that would be why they fixed the match. noone wants to be in pot one meaning they cant draw austria, switzerland or greece, 3 fucking easy games.

Earlier in the year I put a bet on Spain to win it so Im supporting them. Although to win the bet Liverpool need to finish above Arsenal in the league aswell...

I know, I just didn't put the right words out.
What I meant was that they tried, but luckily their disgraceful behavour didn't work.

Re: Euro 2008 (for the gamblers amongst us)
It's really hard to pick a winner from those that qualified. The usual "big" nations aren't playing very well at the minute (Holland, Germany, France, Portugal) and Italy haven't impressed in qualifying either. I'm leaning towards another shock winner like last time, maybe the Czech Republic or Croatia.

Re: Euro 2008 (for the gamblers amongst us)
ive always been waiting for spain to finally produce at a major but it just seems impossible at this point, heres hoping that its a good balanced tournament and it does have to the making to be, its a much more balanced tournament than the world cup with only really a couple of week teams(austria, turkey etc) so im looking forward to it. im hoping someone wins it who hasnt won anything for a while- czechs, spain, holland etc. the dutch have a good team coming together so hopefully theyll get themselves well organised for it.
how are germany in the 3rd pot by the way?
