Oh right. Amazing stuff.
By the way you've not exactly proved anyone wrong seeing as Benitez calls him more of a "complete midfielder".

Re: Gerrard on Lucas
I think he'll be an excellent player in a year or twos time, he probably needs about 40/50 games
he is a box-to-box player ('Brazilian Gerrard'), he's got good energy, passing and an eye for goal

Long term i just dont see it
When a CL final comes up and your not playing in it, then you wont be happy, you might get your fair share of league games but if your not playing against manu, Arsenal and Chelsea again your not happy.
Whilst he is learning the ropes obviously he's happy for whatever games he gets but when he proved himself to be good enough then thats the time that competition for places can be a bad thing as well as a good thing

Let's look at the whole quote, as opposed to one word, or the first half of the sentence shall we?
"He can remain as a holding midfielder but he also likes to get forward because he scores goals, so he is more of a complete midfielder."
In the context of that sentence (the whole sentence), I think the key word is "can". TO ME, Rafa is saying he has the positional awareness to play in the holding midfield position that Rafa must see as a necessity, yet still be able to bomb forward from time to time to score goals and in general, contribute to the attack. He ends by saying "he is more of a complete midfielder". So does that mean Rafa thinks he's a more defensive minded "complete midfielder"? Maybe, but if he's getting forward to aid the attack and score goals from time to time, as well as protect the back four, that would be fucking awesome.
So in conclusion, what I said earlier is still what I think, and in the context of the whole quote, it makes sense.

I think he's a holding, attacking, defensive, complete kind of midfielder.

Does anyone else read Rashid's quotes in a Peter Sellers style Indian accent? I know I do, and I always have a giggle after.

Re: Gerrard on Lucas
I think he looks like a good, well-rounded player but I haven't seen him offer much out of the ordinary yet. He seems the type who does everything quite well, but we're yet to see anything really classy from him. Hopefully that is yet to come.

Not me. It's more of a generic south east whine that I detect. Like the sound of a thousand Nissan Pimera drivers endlessly tutting about the noisy air conditioning.

You accidentally have a point here. I share it, but with another reason:
Lucas seems like a great prospect. To get the best out of him in a longer perspective he has to be given freedom to defend AND attack to learn both sides of the game. I am worried that Rafa`s safety first policy will prevent him from developing the attacking side of his game.
