You also have to realise how hard it is to be a replacement for a long term manager who has stamped his mark throughout the club from top to bottom. Add to that he was also trying to totally change the style of play from the previous manager's style, which made the job even harder.
Perhaps with hindsight, he tried too much too soon, but in this day and age chairmen don't give you the time because the cost of failure is so high.
He couldn't have asked for a better grounding to start building a career in management. He's worked with a lot of successful people who have achieved that success through a wide range of methods and ideas.
I don't know if he'll make it as a top flight manager, but I know if he's still wants to become one, it's way too early to write him off.

Martin O'Neil at Leicester and Alan Curbishley at Charlton spring to mind

It's the Manager who dictates the style of play, not the coach.

But that's where a man takes what he's learnt from others and tries to improve on them. I don't think you can judge what style of play Sammy Lee the "Manager" would use based on a few months at Bolton.

Re: Sammy Lee leaves Bolton
While I loved him during his playing days & don't doubt his coaching credentials , I would have to say that he didn't project any semblance of authority or insight whenever interviewed on TV & his body language & his insistence on wearing his predecessor's ridiculous call centre headset made me cringe.
He just seems to be a good coach & should go back to that line of work.

The age of the internet eh
Thats a very hard and very strong judgement to make considering the time he's been in the job

Possibly Nick , & it's one I didn't want to make with Sammy , but it was a feeling of ' out of his depth' every time I listened to /saw him on the tv or radio.
More importantly his senior players seemed to lean toward my misgivings
p.s. I can barely spell laptop & am the most unlikely internet warrior ever
