JUST LOOK WHO'S TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!

JUST LOOK WHO'S TOP OF THE LEAGUE!! GOOD LUCK FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lst Friday night, in the German Bundesliga 2, Borussia Moenchengladbach beat Allemania Aachen 2-1 in their new home of Borussia Park to top the table in the German Bundesliga 2. Hopefully they will continue this run of good form of 5 wins on the bounce and achieve promotion at the first time of asking after their relegation last season.
I organised a 30th anniversary Friendship trip to Moenchengladbach last May to commemorate the 30th anniversary since Liverpool met Borussia in the 1977 European cup final. Our weekend included a free of charge stadium tour, a meeting with Gladabch's new sporting director Christian Ziege, a pub crawl in the Moenchengladbach's Alt Stadt (Old Town) and taking in Borussia's last home match of the 2006/2007 season which culminated in a 0-2 defeat and relegation from the Bundesliga 1 and an all day party in their "Fan Haus" before and after the match.
We had a fantastic time in Gladbach and we were treated, quite frankly, like royalty, their affinity for Liverpool Football Club holds no bounds and their "Fan Haus" includes a corner dedicated to Liverpool Football Club.

Because of the outstanding success of our trip, I am organising another trip to Moenchengladbach this season, details about our next visit will follow here, or Email me for more details.
The absolute highlight for some of us on our visit last May, was when 5 of our party, myself included were allowed to unveil our specially commissioned Friendship flag that we had made on the Borussia Park pitch just 20 minutes before Gladbach's last home match. before we unveiled our flag, I was allowed with microphone in hand to address the Gladbach supporters in front of their "Nord Kurve", which is equivalent to our Kop. It was unbelievable the reception we received in front of a official attendance on the day of 50001.
During our visit we also handed out Friendship badges to the Gladbach supporters which showed both teams club crests with two hands shaking in the sign of friendship. My two good mates Gary Johnston and Pat Link, who both were a great help in organising the trip also made a plaque of stainless steel and mounted on a solid oak frame with the words in English and German which read "Liverpool FC und Borussia MG - eine ganz besondere freundschaft" and in English "Liverpool FC and Borussia MG - a very special friendship". This plaque now takes pride of place in the Borussia Moenchengladbach official "Fan Haus". Pat was also instrumental in designing the badge of friendship.

Good luck to Borussia Moenchengladbach in their quest to return to the Bundesliga 1 at the first time of asking and we look forward to seeing our Borussia mates next year in Gladbach.
Just one final point to remember about Borussia Moenchengladbach and the Gladbach supporters and that is in 1991 the Borussia Moenchengladbach supporters donated 21000 Deutsch Marks (approximately £8000) to the Hillsborough families in the aftermath of the disaster, a truly fantastic gesture and something that should NEVER be forgotten.
