BELLAMY ...VIEWS

I really dont think Bellamy was given a fair chance ok his appearence are quite high but in all the games i seen him play last year either starting or as sub i never once remember us playing the football to use his qualitys 90% of the time the ball was pumped up to him and never once did our playmakers i.e gerrard or xavi play the type of balls to him he could do somethink with
i am disappointed it looks like hes going as i feel we have wasted a good play and he is the only forward we have with raw pace ...discuss

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

I'm glad he's gone/going. Nowhere near prolific or even potentially good enough. Plays like a labotomised Michael Owen.

Bit of bad apple, although I genuinely don't think he knows it, scum-wise he's nowhere in the grand scale of things compared to real arseholes like Barton.

I can't say I'm gutted about him going. He never lived up to his expectation and he isn't Liverpool quality. He'll do well ant West Ham and I'm fucking buzzing off how much we are reportadly getting for him!! We've had their eyes out there!!

So not bothered at all.
He won a lot of corners.
And throw-ins.
Wish him luck, that's all.

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

I was expecting more from Bellamy based on how he performed for Blackburn and I'm sure Rafa was expecting a better return from him goals wise. He was disappointing.

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

His sealed his own fate in Portugal I'm afraid.

He's a good player who suffered, like the rest of the forwards, because he never played in a settled partnership up front.

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

There's two ways to look at whether or not a player got a fair crack of the whip. On the one hand you could say a player never got enough playing time, but on the other you could say he never made himself indispensible to the team.

I think Bellamy has a bit more to his game than he manged to show for us. He was good business at £6M and offered us the pace we were lacking. With the new owners we are now shopping higher up the food chain, and Torres is most definitely an improvement.

When we factor in the character issues (well documented golf club incident) it seems that the right decision has been made. He is a 'not quite' player in terms of top four standard.

Yep, that sums it up for me. I wanted him to do well, and he had a couple of cracking games (Wigan away he was dynamite), but too few and far between.

Simple conclusion: not good enough.

But he did perform as he did for Blackburn. There he stood out because he was better than the rest of the team, by and large. Older Liverpool fans will recognise it. It's called "Dean Saunders Syndrome".

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

I think Rafa's plan when he signed him was that he was going to be making a profit out of him in a season or two but he could do the job of filling a gap until we got somebody more suited, like Torres.

Not a bad player but not too bothered he's leaving.

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

he made better use of the ball than cisse but he was caught offside just as much. i think he did have fair crack, he was rafas first choice alongside kuyt for most of the season. he was found wanting at this level.

I don't think he reached the levels he did at Blackburn for us, but he didn't get as much playing time.

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

bellemy like cisse need to be played in a certain way to get the best out of them, which begs the question why they were purchased in the first place.

If there was an Oxford Dictionary definition for "Craig Bellamy's time at Liverpool" it would be this.

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

He had all the tools but couldn't utilize them, he was always in the starting XI against teams that played high defensive lines just so he could get that space in front of him. He never applied just little sense and as a consequence he was caught offside at least 4 times a game. He didn't do it 4 me. Aurevoir bellars!!!

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

Bye bye Bellamy, not good enough lad.
Thanks for being the cheapish stop gap for a season, thanks for the goal in the Champions League qualifier, thanks for the few quid profit in the coffers and good luck at Boiled Ham this season, Aston Villa next season, Blackburn the season after and then obscurity....the striking equivalent of Robbie Savage.

Re: BELLAMY ...VIEWS

Bellamy will always play better against clubs who don't set a defensive stall out, and therefore leave him space to work in. That means he'll do better for a club who aren't top four. I think he was given enough of a chance but his game simply doesn't work for us.
