I'm sure I asked Ballague about those quotes and he said it was bullshit and Villa didn't say it. It's in the interview he did in the fanzine if anyone can be arsed digging it out.

????

If we continue to play the current system we don't have room for another forward, and we would be better off buying a player Torres can play off such as Diego or Aguero....

However playing the current system we are so reliant on Torres it is scary, one injury to him and we're fucked.... Playing the current system I mean!! The only two other players in the world who I can see do what he does on their own is Drogba and Adebayor, and let's face it they will not come here to sit on the bench...

The dilemma then is that we cannot buy a world class back-up for Torres, which leaves us vunerable if he get's injured...

Buy Villa and we have the firepower to play with two forwards, both with great mobility and pace, any defense will shit their pants playing them... It would mean breaking up a system that works very well for us, and also requires world class wingers, but it leaves us less vunerable.....

Nightmare scenario, Everton understands how dependent we are on Torres, singles him out and puts him out for the season, and that's us fucked for the Champions League and the fourth place in the Premier League.....

Re: David Villa is a Red

We need a right sided attacker, not a central striker.

He's good, but he'd be the wrong priority.

Re: David Villa is a Red

You cant have world class players and have them on the bench though and expect them to be happy.

Man United havent got a replacement if Ronaldo gets injured who could come in and do the same job as you have to take the chance he wont.

I personally would sign a top quality right sided attacker and god forbid Torrs ever did get injured then you have to adjust the team accordingly.

I would keep the same formation but put Babel into the centre and Yossi out on the left. Yes its not as strong as when Torres is there but that would be expected.

Changing the system to suit two top strikers doesnt bring the best out of the team though as you have 3 top quality midfielders in Gerrard, Mascherano and Alonso. So who misses out in those three.

Babel is showing signs of becoming a player for us and its no surpeise its since we have stopped playing 4-4-2 that he is enjoying himself a lot more.

agree with you 100% coop.

For me it would be Mancini but id be over the moon with Alves.

There is no point shipping out squad players for more squad players.

Id bring in a top class right sided player and a back up keeper if Charles and Carson move on.

I do agree we play some great stuff with the current system, and I am sure Villa could fill in for Kuyt on the right doing a better job and being a bigger goal threat.....
If, God forbid Torres gets injured, Villa could lead the line better than Crouch, Voronin and Kuyt ever will both in the current system and if we revert to playing with two strikers....

Got my hopes up when Gillette promised to fund Rafa by way of flashing that wad of cash after the Champions League final

We would outclass any team in the world if we had the cash to buy those players, but I guess I am asking for a bit to much ........

Re: David Villa is a Red

If Newcastle go down and we could get him for around 3 to 4 million then why not Owen as back up for torres, with his injury problems and the way things have gone for him since he left I am sure he would bite his hand off to come back even if it means him not being guaranteed a start, I think he would suit are current system well and I wouldn't mind him as a back up striker, plus occasionally we could change the system and play them both together.

No chance mate he would want to be playing regular footall for his England place.
