So Who's The Worst Ever England Manager

Taylor or McLaren

Tough call but with the resources McLaren has compared to Taylor he must be the worst manager ever.

By the way nice to see the England fans getting behind there team

Re: So Who's The Worst Ever England Manager

McClaren by a country mile. Taylor was more desperately unlucky (remember battering Holland at home, cruising at 2-0, then throwing it away; and then in Holland, when Koeman should have been red-carded then went on to score the winner).

How contradictory is this?! You're lamenting the England fans for not getting behind the team and then calling the manager the worst ever yourself.

Strange.

We had to put up with Souness the worst ever Liverpool manager of my lifetime but we still supported the team

Revie had rubbish players to work with and the usual high expectancy from the England fans. I don't blame him for fucking off to the sun, sea, sand and petrodollars of the Middle East.
McClaren has no such excuse. He has a good squad and a good wage. He is useless.

You're bang on there.

He is one of the only critics to actaully express an opinion of his own and I rate him for that.

He is very knowledgable, he was talking to my missus (a Carlisle Utd fan) for about half an hour about the club, players and history. He was genuinely interested.

Ha ha, very good.

Really though he knew about most of the current squad and all of the staff/board at the time which for a League two team was pretty good in my opinion.

Re: So Who's The Worst Ever England Manager

If it's true what they are saying about fat Frank being dropped instead of not playing because of injury, then it's got to be McClaren. I've no problem with Jabba not playing, in fact I welcome it, but a manager not having the balls to give a straight and proper reason would show a lack of control over the team. Managers rule teams, not players.

Re: So Who's The Worst Ever England Manager

Given the resources at his disposal, I'd have to say that Maclaren seems to be worse than Taylor. But he is still England manager, so it is too early to judge. He may well qualify for Euro 2008 and England may well go on to their customary QF exit. If all that happens, then he is on a par with most others.

Another shout for worst manager might be Keegan. He didn't exactly cover himself in glory, but at least he had the good grace to fall on his sword.

I think the FA dropped a clanger in sacking Hoddle. I thought he was doing OK as England manager. OK, he said something stupid, but I don't think we've progressed one bit since getting rid of him.

Agree with you about Hoddle, one of those managers who made a better international manager than a club manager.

He did make some mistakes but all the FA had to do was pull him to one side and tell him to focus on the job in hand and keep his beliefs to himself but this is the same bunch of twats that appointed Taylor and McLaren.

I remember Peter Swales saying just before euro 92 "thank goodness we appointed Taylor who is a great manager we could have been stuck with Bobby Robson" says everything about the mindset of idiots running our football
