Can it really be my shirt

...that is causing us problems this season?

My retro sixties shirt has witnessed classic victories such as the Champions Laegue and FA Cup finals of the past two seasons, but it has long sleeves and gets a bit warm in the sunnier of times. So I ordered myself a nice new polo shirt (don't do current kit as no sooner have you bought it than its out of date and the bastards want more money from you....but that's a different thread!)

Anyway, it didn't arrive in time for the Crewe friendly, so we won that in a plain old red T-shirt. When I did get it it was the wrong size and had to go back again. So the Lincoln friendly and Maccabi Hifa were also watched in different shirts.

But it was here in time for the opening game against Sheffield...a disappointing draw.

The Hammers game was watched in the pub in me scruffs as I was laying concrete at the time and just took a couple of hours off...we won!

Derby lasy weekend the shirt was back and fuck me did we lose!

Tuesday night I gave the shirt a good talking to, told it it had cost me good money and I won't be giving up on it that easy so it had just better get used to supporting the team and getting some vicories under its belt.

A good defensive display and a clean sheet.

Now so far all these games have been watched with the shirt from the pub, and I don't get back to Anfield until Wednesday. I'm thinking that maybe it needs to actually visit Anfield to draw its winning powers and then really become a lucky shirt.

So in the meantime do I accept Tuesday's progress as a good sign and wear it today against the Chavs, or play it on the bench until Wednesday, cos its a big game today.

Or do you think what shirt I wear today will have fuck all to do with the result?

Re: Can it really be my shirt

i had the same problem with last seasons away shirt, first few times i wore it we were unbeaten all fine and dandy i thoght until the chelsea game at Anfield when the shirt had an off day, although the signs were there previously at the super cup final which was a bit of a close call. still after the defeat to chelsea i decided to give it another run out at Fulham following another listless performance that shirt has now been placed in the cupboard never to be worn again!

in essence what i'm suggesting is leave your shirt on the subs bench today just until it's fully settled otherwise you may well lose all confidence in it's abilities

Gone 12, still in the scruffs on the way to the tip. Could be a mad dash to the pub still in the scruffs, shirt in the cupboard.... a repeat of the west Ham Performance?

Well that was shit advice! Can't blame my fucking shirt this time. Obviously it was building up to something spectacular and I didn't trust it. Roll on wednesday night!

Maybe it's coz your shirt was a talking point? I think, if you burn it and never mention it again, we'll win everything...
