Absolutely right.
How come you didn't know? Age, nationality or something else?

Re: Hillsborough
mainly fell in love on the road to istanbul. I dont get to see much football in the states, or i didnt for awhile. In that year of school, I had a newspaper class that I could watch the CL matches in (the teacher coached the footie team and would put the games on ESPN) and, for some reason, just found myself drawn to the club. It was the Juve game that really got me, and I knew I was a red when I put off sex to jump around and celebrate the final win. That's an awkward thing to tell an American girl, let me tell you.

Re: Hillsborough
There is an attraction that our club has, that is very special. I remember on the mini bus travelling in from the airport to Istanbul. There was a fella from India, one from South Africa another from Maritus a Swedish red and half a dozen Scousers.
The only club in England who touches us for worldwide support is Man U.

Don't forget that many other newspapers, including the Daily Star, ran similar headlines... everyone else has!

To be fair, I haven't done much research, only a look on wikipedia to satisfy the initial need for knowledge, do you have a link to other such headlines?

They retracted the headlines and apolgised a few days later after actually doing some research. Good point though.

http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/history/media.shtm
That tells you about the media response... fivetimes is right that most of the papers apologised afterwards though.
That page is part of the bigger site:
http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/history/index.shtm
Which is well worth reading.

One of the most informative books I've read was, Hillsborough: The Truth by Phil Scraton.

I was just about to say the same thing. A very touching and informative read.

And me too. Did anyone see that programme on that infamous headline?
Everyone in The Sun office knew it was out of order, but McKenzie ruled the roost and was allowed to do anything he wanted.

McKenzie's back writing for them I believe.
So that's what they meant by "it's time to move on".

Sounds like you are well on your way to being a full red. Try to get hold of a dvd titled " The official History of Liverpool Football Club" done by the BBC. I | |
