Dave U or anyone with England contacts - Crouch interview and HJC

A while back somebody posted on here about making a donation to the HJC if Crouchy used the phrase "watchyagonnado" in an interview. It was during the domestic season and so presumably the poster had MOTD or Sky in mind. I can't remember whether Dave said he'd mention it to any of the players to see if it could happen, but I guess nothing came of it.

I've just been thinking how fucking ace it would be if Crouchy dropped either "watchyagonnado" or "runnin' wild" into an interview during the World Cup, ideally in the same programme as an England game (pre-match or post-match interview) so the whole nation would witness it. I'll happily give £20 to the HJC if he says one of them and £30 for both if they're in the same interview.

Dave, or anyone else who has any kind of even indirect contact with Carra, Stevie or the man himself, or indeed with anyone else in the England camp – any chance you could make this happen? I know it's a huge ask as the communications in and out of the camp are quite tightly controlled, and also it's quite late in the day. I've only just thought of the idea as until recently it didn't look as though Crouchy would play much of a role.

It's probably a complete non-starter, but if there's any way anyone could get the message to him, get onto it – it would be a moment to treasure. In the meantime, anyone else prepared to make a pledge if he says the immortal words?

Re: Dave U or anyone with England contacts - Crouch interview and HJC

I forgot to mention it to him, but I had the same thought as you yesterday. When the new issue is out I was going to put a note in it and send it to Carra at the training camp, but now I'm thinking of sending four mags (one for each of the lads) to him and writing the note directly to Crouch to see if he'll do it.

I'll let you know if there are any developments, but I won't know until the mag gets there and he gets the letter.

The real challenge is formulating this in such a way that he doesn't think we're taking the piss out of him. I reckon Carra can help convince him of that, since he's had a chat with Dave about it.

If he did it, well, there really wouldn't be anything in the world that could top that!

I still don't like the way the whole country has warmed to him so suddenly. Fickle bastards.

Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. It's good for him though as he now has the support of his own fans (england fans) which I think has boosted his confidence.

I can see him scoring one or two today.

Shouldn't you be sending five copies? Mikey boy would surely like one.

Then again, maybe just sending four copies plus about 20 bits of papers with subscription details on would be better.

And hurry up getting the issue ready - they could be home soon.

I thought he already knew about Crouchamania and the whole Hulk Hogan thing from Carra? If not, then Dave's piece from issue 49 would explain everything.

I always thought that Crouchamania came about in large part as a reaction to all the stick that he got when he joined us and when he was booed for England - it was maybe a bit tongue in cheek, but I've never seen it as anything other than complimentary and supportive. Crouchy is obviously a really easy-going bloke with a sense of humour, so I'm sure he'll get it. Anyway I'll leave it in Dave's capable hands.

Print that off and sends it.

I don't know if Carra has mentioned it to him, but I would have thought he would do. I should have asked him the other day when I told him about that website business and the Crouch song.

You're right about where Crouchamania came from. It started because of the objections a lot of fans had when we signed him. It grew because of the England thing and his goal drout (how the fuck do you spell 'drout', I know thats wrong but never know how to spell it and usually use the word 'shortage' or 'famine' to avoid looking thick) and the stick he got because of it.
