Yossi Benayoun

It's only from the Mirror, but this lad has had an excellent year and would be a welcome addition:

Daily Mirror

NEXT STOP LIVERPOOL?
EXCLUSIVE
By Neil Mcleman
YOSSI BENAYOUN (left) is a summer transfer target of Rafa Benitez after the Israeli's outstanding FA Cup Final performance. The Liverpool manager has long been an admirer of the attacking midfielder after his three years in Spain with Racing Santander. And Benitez has been impressed by his first season in the Premiership since his £2.5million transfer to West Ham in the summer.

Sources close to Benayoun say his camp were sounded out about a possible move to Anfield before the FA Cup final.

And Benayoun's fine Cardiff display, where he showed the guile lacking from the Liverpool side, has further convinced Benitez that he can help turn the Reds into Premiership challengers.

The Spaniard has £20m to spend - and will have to invest at least £6m to persuade West Ham to sell a player who will be central to their UEFA Cup bid next season.

The 25-year-old can play wide on both flanks and off a central striker, and has scored six times for West Ham this season.

I hope not good finish to the season but average for most of it. I would still like Garry O'Neil or second reo-coka(sp) as a midfield buy

Good player ans has done very well for the Hammers this year + the work ethic that Rafa likes, but I'm not sure this is anything other than pure apeculation on behalf of the journo.

On transfers though, did anyone notivce Ian Wright's wry smile on the Beeb when he mentioned about Liverpool signing a couple of Quality players this summer? Made me think he knows something!

Yes I did.

I thought Benyoun was ace on Saturday but I haven't seen enough of him to know how consistant he is.

I agree, I thought he was excellent on Saturday but you can't judge a player on one game really. In fact this is typical of the press because I was just saying to my Brother yesterday that it won't be long until we're linked with him.

Re: Yossi Benayoun

He's ace at leading counter-attacks. Very different to Garcia IMO, better dribbler.

Re: Yossi Benayoun

Not in Garcia's class? Benayoun is twice as effective. And yes he can score long range crackers, he showed that for Racing as well as West Ham, perhaps not to the effect of Garcia, but his all round game more than makes up for it. He has pace in addition to technique, something Garcia lacks. Oh and he doesn't give the ball away near as much. I would take him over Garcia anyday because he would deserve to be in the starting lineup.

You’ve got the “grass is greener on the other side of the fence” glasses on. Garcia is better than Benayoun.

Re: Yossi Benayoun

Haven't seen that much of him, but he impressed me on Saturday. Very dangerous player with the ball at his feet - running at players. Always positive. Good technique. Not a big name, but a hard working team player - just Rafa's type.

He could be our new Mcmanaman. We certainly need someone with the ability to run at the opposition with pace from a deeper position. It makes all the difference in those games, especially away from, home, when we're under the cosh.

when talking about Gerrard, someone said he's a player you'd love to play alongside, to which Lineker said "the sort of player you'd like your son to play along side?" with a smile

and wrighty fell about and said yes, so there is definately something going on.
