But the thing which has surprised me is that for the same number of games as the last deal (I think) it has generated around 50% more revenue.

It said on Sky before that there definitely wouldn't be any Sky games on PPV. At least that's what I think I heard.

They've just confirmed it on SSN that they won't be having any PPV games. The packages they've won are all for Sundays only, and will all be shown on Sky Sports only. Plus they have first choice on the bank holiday games, but there's not that many of those.

Will Chelsea agree to a straight swap of Traore for Gallas?

It's still pay per view, though isn't it? Setanta is on Freeview but you have to pay per view, it's a misnomer if there ever was one.

Re: Sky get 3 packages
I'm not sure how this is going to work out, but I'll be disappointed if I have to pay the same or more to Sky for fewer Liverpool games and also have to pay for more individual PPV matches or another football subscription. I can't see me coming out of this with more money in my pocket - which makes the whole fucking thing a complete farce, as that was the whole reason for changing the rules.

Sky are advertising the 50 quid season ticket now on channel 480 for next season's PPV. They are also saying this offer ends somewhere around the 20th of this month and that it won't be repeated. I've seen it advertised for as much as £80 in previous seasons, but I've never paid more than the equivalent of £1 per game by paying up front.
If Sky don't put their prices up (other than their usual annual price hike) and Setanta sell us a season ticket for £50 (or a bit more to allow for inflation) then we won't be any worse off.
I can't see that happening though somehow.

Papers are today predicting a Sky price hike for the 07/08 season and Setanta charging £15 a month. The current deal suits me fine as I only want to see Liverpool games. I never buy the PPV season ticket as the maximum games for any club is six which is cheaper individually than paying for the whole thing. This season way more than half of our games have been on live and the rest have had 50 minute highlights. It's not going to be this good again.

Re: Sky get 3 packages
Mirror reckons Setanta were "looking into" whether they could show games on the freeview platform.

Yes they are, but as a paid-for top up. They want to be "platform neutral", but still charge.

Out of all our competitive games that will have been played this season about 75% will have been shown live on tv in england. That's about 45 out of 60.

I know. I said in one of my earlier posts that Setanta being on freeview is a misnomer. Do read up, old bean.
