Re: TLW betting for HJC

Right lads, how about all the regulars contribute £20 to play in a predictions game for next season. £10 goes to the HJC and £10 goes to a pot. With 38 games thats £380 pot and £380 to HJC.

We predict the scores for each league week and get 1 point for each one we get correct - whoever gets the most at the end of the season gets the pot. Any ties and they share.

How about that? We can make the prediction game a sticky thread.

Re: TLW betting for HJC

The rules would also be clear, all entries in by Friday Midnight and results posted Monday after the weekend is over. A league table would be drawn up each week too.

Re: TLW betting for HJC

sounds good to me, but what about midweek games? does a monday prediction need to be in at the same time as the saturday prediction?
Also, we need anonimity until all entries are in, how can that be done?
are we just talking liverpool, or the premier league? If we're just talking liverpool, do we include all cometitions?
Should it not be 1 point for correct result, 3 for correct score, or something like that?

there are so many questions, so little time.

Sounds good, although I reckon all the cash should go to charity. We could play for a trophy - maybe a virtual one that Haje could arrange to appear by the winner's name?

I was thinking the same thing myself. How about half of the money goes to the HJC and the winner gets to donate his winnings to a charity of his choice?

Obviously he could choose the HJC and ergo all of the money would go to them but if people have a particular charity they strongly support then it gives them the option.

Re: TLW betting for HJC

Rashid's idea is a good one but takes a lot of administrating. Why not predict the final league table. Each place below/above your prediction that a team finishes costs you a point. The poster with the lowest number of points wins.

eg. Liverpool Champions - reality 4th = 3 points
Everton 17th - reality 10th = 7 points

Good idea. How do we decide ties at the end of the season, though? Maybe a decider of total goals scored in the league?

Re: TLW betting for HJC

I have a better idea, we can have one of prediction of the following:

Premier League:
Championship:
Scottish Premier:

European Cup:
Uefa Cup:

European Super Cup:
World Club Tournament:

FA Cup:
Carling Cup:

Premiership Top Scorer (League only):
European Golden Boot:

Entries Close August 12th at 23:59

Everyone boots in £10 - 50% of proceeds go to a Charity of their choice and 50% to HJC.

Re: TLW betting for HJC

I'm working on a betting related feature to run through next season. This seems a good idea too though. Great minds think alike apparently.

Re: TLW betting for HJC

right, I am bored!!

I am willing to set up a predictions league.
Each week I will issue a list of the games for prediction. you need to enter a score for each game. (i'm not sure whether this should be every game of the week, or just 5-6 interesting games with obviously LFC always involved if playing)
Exact score will earn 5 points, correct result will earn 3 points.

you need to send your predictions to an email address I have just set up so that it remains anonymous and I will post the results each week.

In the interest of fairness, I will put a closing time (maybe 3 hours before the first game of each week for example) and will try to post everyone predictions up so that there is no thought of cheating.

Points get totted up as we go and winner chooses charity for half of the money to go to, in the event of a tie, the person with the most 'correct scores' will win.

£10 in.
Anybody interested?

If everyone is happy with this set up then email: tlw_predictions@yahoo.co.uk to say you are in.
If you think the idea can be altered to make it better, just respond in here.

Re: TLW betting for HJC

.

We should do every game, but it should be organized in a way that we don't have to post a result pre every round.

What we could do is to predict the scoreline in every match until lets say new year, and then do the score for the rest of the games on a later stage.

The winner is for 1st and 2nd combined, althoug we could do a minor bet for each of the rounds 1 and 2, just so those who have taken a toffee-placing still have a reason to put in their score for the 2nd round.

1st round, predict the score for all the games up until december 31. Deadline august 17.

2nd round, predict the score for all the games from January 1 to may 13. Deadline January 1. Registration for round 2 opens medio december.

This way we don't have to remember to register a result for each round, we don't have to take in consideration all the games that is postponed etc.

Re: TLW betting for HJC

problem with that though is that its pure guesswork, no skill. No current form can be taken into account.

It is possible to combine the 2 ideas. splitting it into 2 is a good idea so that there is still everything to play for, but would mean diluting the prize monies etc.

How about I spend a couple of hours tonight coming up with what looks like a good selection of games and they are all available, it is then up to the individual how many in advance they would like to enter, or if they want to play it week by week.

If everyone puts in all the results at the beginning, then there is no participation until december, which makes it a bit pointless.

How about we create an FFL league (say Fantasy Premier League) so nobody has need to administrate? Joined one for the last few years and they're great fun. Money to charidee and Haje can title the winner.
