Valencia still not over Rafa leaving!
Valencia President Juan Soler and Spanish daily sports paper 'Marca' are doing a collective job of trying to discredit Rafa Benitez name, especially among the fans of the club which he took to la liga and UEFA Cup glory last season.
In saturday's Marca they dedicated a whole 3 pages to Rafa and Liverpool. The first 2 were about the tappin-up of Milan Baros. Now that liverpool may bring this case to UEFA, they say that this is the work of Benitez but that he is hiding behind the LFC lawyers in an attempt to ruin his old club, all because Rafa said he needed to discuss it with the people at the club before he discussed it at a press conference. An adviser for Valencia CF also said that they had done nothing wrong in speaking to Baros' agent about a transfer. I doubt UEFA will see it like that.
The reason why Valencia are trying to turn this around and blame it on Benitez is because they hate the fact that the Valencia supporters still love him, and this doesn't stand well with the Valencia board.
The last page basically had a go at Rafa for no real reason. The paper tried to make out that Rafa had a dig at the current Valencia manager Antonio Lopez (Benitez number 2 at VCF) after he was asked at a press conference had he spoken to Lopez since he took the job. Benitez replied "I took him on as part of my coaching staff 3 years ago when he was unemployed. Things went wrong and thats it. I left and he is still there." Hardly what you would call having a dig at someone!!!
To me sounds like Valencia are still bitter over the fact Benitez left them and they will now do anything to tarnish his name, with the help of the spanish press of course. This makes me think, even if Benitez is looking to get rid of Baros, I reckon the last club he would want him to go to would be Valencia.
