Ashamed to say when I was a v/young we were driving past the Hospital where Shank's was, Me my mum and stepdad. I was in the front of the car.....
Mum: "Thats where Bill Shankly is John"
Me: "Who's Bill Shankly?"
I then get clouted round the back of the head big time...
Mum: "I'm ashamed of you lad, just wait till you go round your dad's and I tell him"
Mum: "Infact wait till I see your Dad, I'll have words with him.... I'm not having my son saying Who's bill Shankly"
I still did'nt (at that time) know who he was but could tell from the way my mum spoke to me she was disgusted.
God bless you Bill, you made the people happy

Met the great man and his wife in the hotel after the European Cup Final in Paris , something I'll always remember.

My old man used to go out on the ale with Terry Mac when they were both in thier twenties and he took me to Melwood to see them train when I was young, terry mac was sat on a bench with his leg in plaster and my dad said:

Me: "What, who's he?"
That's the problem with kids nowadays, no respect for history!
