"Owen should be dropped", Some pr*ck called Paul McCarthy.

Some tw*t of a hack on Sly Sports called Paul McCarthy.

Owen has an indifferent couple of games and the Fleet Street Vermin are on his back.

"When Rooney is back for the next game there is a case for dropping Owen and having Defoe and Rooney upfront."

Yeah drop the guy who has scored 60-70% of England's goals and replace him with someone who has one goal for his country and another who has more cards than goals for his club.

That REALLY that makes sense.

Re: "Owen should be dropped", Some pr*ck called Paul McCarthy.

Personally I think he probably has a point. During the Euro's he played ok but was outshone by Rooney in everygame except the Portugal one. Last night he was outshone by Defoe.

If there is reason for dropping Beckham because he is not in good form then the same should apply to Owen. He is not untouchable and dropping him does not mean he never plays again, it just may provide England with better options currently.

It has been a long time since Owen has produced an outstanding performance for England and I'm sure he will remain to be number one in terms of main goalscorer but dropping him for certain games is not out of the question as far as I'm concerned.

Owen has been poor for a while now, for club and for country. I reckon there is a decent case for Rooney and Defoe deserving to start ahead of him.

Sad, but true.

Personally im more of a LIverpool fan than an England one so i dont really care if Owen plays or not, However i do think it would be good to drop him for a game it might be the kick up the arse he needs

Defoe is *nearly* Owen before he lost his pace.
