John Arne Riise

Have not heard to my post about this guy, i feel he should have bigger role to play next season possibly left side of midfielder, he's great going forward and would be in a better position to unleash he leftfoot drive.

Re: John Arne Riise

With Vicente's imminent arrival there will be no place on the left of midfield for Riise.

I like him at left mid too. I don't think we are getting Vincente. It is just media talk and Valencia are not ready to sell him.

Re: John Arne Riise

Sorry I want him in Norway. He cant defend pass or cross well enough at this level. He is a wing back which means in a 442 he is not good enough in any of the available positions.

Re: John Arne Riise

Agreed Martin although i feel you were too nice to him. He is utter shite who can't do the basics, especially tackling.

I believe a left back should be near the top of the list for signings.

Re: John Arne Riise

Martin, Andy- we're talking about Riise, not Finnan. I think Finnan is more under the can't cross or tackle (still looking for Lisbie). As for passing, not many of our players besides Gerrard did any passing, it has been hoof hoof hoof under Houillier, with Riise being one of the better hoofers.

I say let Rafa sort out whether Riise or even Diouff are/is shite.

Now, if Rafa can get rid of the "Igor Moment" syndrome even Biscan may have a place, then he could truly walk on the water that is wine.

Re: John Arne Riise

I think that JAR is the worst full-back at the club. However, I have always thought he looked good on the left side of midfield. Kewell on the right?

Re: John Arne Riise

How about we just shift him altogther and bring in Vicente, a player who can pass and even, wait for it, go past a player!!!

Its time for a clearout imo. Those who have had their chance its time to go!

Patrick. I reckon Finnan would beat Riise on tackles made last season! 3-1 maybe. :-)

Hermes do u seriously THINK he is coming or do u have inside info. What is this guy like, I have read that he was a revelation when Rafa bought him from Tenerife (i think). Is he left footed or is he capable of using the right. I remember u posting that we will sign him by the 12th?

Re: John Arne Riise

Like most other players Riise was terrible for much the last two seasons. But to his credit he was one of the few that raised his game, and over the last ten games last season, he was one of our best performers ( besides Stevie G.) and looked much more like the Riise from the 2001/2002 season.

I still believe he has a lot to offer, and remember he is still a young player ready and willing to learn.

Re: John Arne Riise

Have to agree that we should hold onto JAR. God knows there aint many left footed players out there let alone GOOD ONES.
