31M for Gerrard plus Scot Parker

£31 MILLION FOR GERRARD PLUS SCOTT PARKER
Press Report 20 June 2004

Steven Gerrard will quit Liverpool for Chelsea in a British record £31 million deal after Euro 2004, with Scott Parker moving to Anfield in exchange.

Gerrard is going to activate a release agreement he has with chief executive Rick Parry and ask to join Roman Abramovich's super-rich Chelsea on a stunning £35 million contract.

Liverpool may take Scott Parker as part of the transfer in a player-plus-cash deal.

Gerrard's camp are telling contacts in the game that the transfer will definitely happen and Chelsea are prepared to pay the £31 million fee up front to ease the pain. The contract on offer for Gerrard is a staggering £7 million a year over five seasons.

Rafael Benitez will spend the Gerrard cash on new additions to his squad. Benitez wants centre half Roberto Fabien Ayala and left winger Vicente Rodriguez along with keeper Santiago Canizares.

Midfielder Ruben Baraja an ideal replacement for Gerrard, may be too expensive and unwilling to move to Liverpool.

This article has been reproduced from today's media. It does not necessarily represent the views of Liverpool Football Club.

Scott Parker just the same as Gerrard if Gerrard slaps in a transfer request.

Who wants scott parker, I certainly don't. Rather us have the cash. and that should be at least 50Million!!!

Re: 31M for Gerrard plus Scot Parker

I dont really have much time for Parker, a few month's ago he was satisfied to walk away from charlton and sit on the bench at chelsea and make his money.

HOWEVER I have been told by very very good sources that Damien Duff's future at Chelsea is very very much in the balance. I was surprised by this myself but aparently the new dutch winger is numero 1 and duff could very well be on his bike.

There is no link between us and him at all, in fact the is going to be a big off load at chelsea straight after the euro's (surprise!!!) and he and mutu, crespo, desailly etc are out.

If gerard goes, which I have come to terms with now, I personally think duff could do very well wide left for us.

I am a bit worried about the new signings the new manager is being linked with, I think alot of new european player would take a long time (6 months) to settle into the premiership. I dont fancy Baraja myself, as a player.

As far as I am aware (Dave correct me please) Gerrard doesn't have a release clause in his contract.

So the article is er bull.

That Vicente is getting on for the best winger in the world imo.

Quality if we could pull that one off.

I think Baraja has been excellent in a disappointing Spanish side, but haven't seen enough of him to make a judgement.

Re: 31M for Gerrard plus Scot Parker

Vincent or Duff i'll have any of the two prolly prefer Duff as he is 'proven'.

Can Vincent play on the right tho, is he two footed or is the left peg he only uses?

Totally agree with that.... he left to "further his international prospects." Hmmmmmm..... sitting on the bench and playing out of position will deffo do that won't it!!!! Money-grabber. Don't want any players like that. I bet he wouldn't come to Liverpool anyway, as I bet he is more than happy picking up mega-bucks every week at Chelsea.

As for Duff...... Yes Please! Him or Vicente would be fantastic.... Where would that leave Kewell though.... a new role in the centre of midfield?

Re: 31M for Gerrard plus Scot Parker

I read this week that he has a verbal agreement that he can leave if he's unhappy, but no clause. Hence, he'll go but for nearer £50m than £30m.

I heard that he has a get out clause---But that it only can be activated from next summer, unless considerable progress has been made...or something like that...

Re: 31M for Gerrard plus Scot Parker

Quite frankly I will be done with football if a guy that, is die in the wool red and has signed for the length of time SG did last season, leaves to earn 6 million a year instead of 3. How much does anyone need to securte their future? The club has sacked a man and brought in a proven new manager to please us and the players.

If it happened it would just make it all totally hollow. And if we did get £50 it would just be bizarre. How would Lampard feel if SG gets all that money, and the club spends all that money on buying Stevie but tells him to fuck off hes not getting more money.

It's all bollocks and I am just about at the end of my interest.

We'll probably sell Milan Baros as well - 18 goals from 25 international games. Obbviously too good for losers like us.

Stevie G has an opportunity to put a stake in the heart of this particular form of danger in the night. I pray for my sanity he is the captain in Red in August. I just can't see me getting into the GAA!

I think £50 is a bit cheap to be honest:-)

Fuck Parker, I'd take Duff and £40m.

Re: 31M for Gerrard plus Scot Parker

Gallas,Duff & Cole plus 50£ then we can start to negotiate...

Gallas would give us som pace at the back
Duff would give us width, pace and goals
Cole would bring us the unexpected and flair...

Cole is a player i believe would blossom under the right coach ( Like Benitez). He is very talented and is being wasted at Chelsea...

Agreed about Duff and Gallas, but Cole has no pace and can't score. We've got loads of them already.
